Celebrating 100 years
Epiphany, Nelsonville and St. Paul's, Logan will celebrate their centennials on Sunday, Sept 16. There will be a 3 p.m. service at Epiphany and a 4 p.m. Eucharist at St. Paul's. Bishop Breidenthal will preside.

ECSF grant proposals due Sept. 15
Congregations and other Episcopal institutions within the diocese are eligible to apply to Episcopal Community Services Foundation (ECSF) for funding to help respond to local human needs such as hunger, housing crises, or programs to build participants' economic stability. These are operating grants and can be requested for any program you need help funding.
The applicant must show significant support of the project itself, in volunteers, funding, or in-kind support. Application guidelines and the list of current grants are available at the Awarding Grants link of ECSF's website, www.ECSFsouthernohio.org Applications must be received by midnight on Sept. 15. We encourage you to submit your application by e-mail, but hard copies will be accepted if postmarked by Sept. 14.

| Mission Grant applications online
Applications for 2013 Mission Grants from the Commission on Congregational Life are now available online. The application deadline is Sept. 15.
The mission of the Commission on Congregational Life is to assist congregations and communities of faith to be viable Episcopal presences in their respective contexts by:
- helping communicate the good news of Jesus Christ to all;
- initiating and encouraging the founding of new congregations and communities of faith;
- helping communities to use the hallmarks of health as guidelines;
- aiding the growth and change of existing congregations and communities of faith and practice;
- and assisting the closing and relocation of congregations and communities of faith and practice as may prove necessary.

| Vote online to win $10,000 for community ministry
Episcopal Community Services Foundation is in the running for a 2012 Chase Community Giving grant. By voting online before Sept. 19, and asking friends to join you, you could boost ECSF to the top 196 nominated charities, adding $10,000 to the grant dollars we can send to the community ministries for which many of you are submitting grant requests this week.
If a few hundred people vote for ECSF this week, we could win! Think of the good these dollars will do for the neighbors in dire need who are turning to your pantries, shelters and emergency assistance programs!
Anyone with a Chase checking or savings account can vote for Episcopal Community Services Foundation by googling " Chase Community Giving" and following the prompts.
Anyone with a Facebook account can vote for us by logging into Facebook and searching Facebook for " Chase Community Giving." Enter Episcopal Community Services Foundation in the box for choosing what charity you want to vote for. Then you're prompted to accept an app, after which you can cast a vote. A number of people are reporting difficulties making their vote go through, but keep trying and you should succeed. You get to vote for two charities. Your vote could benefit thousands of people in need! Please ask all your Facebook friends to vote too!

Church Divinity School of the Pacific to award two honorary hegrees to alumni at Alumni/ae Convocation
The Rev. Michael Dresbach of Watsonville, Calif., and the Rev. Robert Reynolds of Terrace Park, Ohio, will receive Doctor of Divinity degrees
 Two distinguished Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) alumni will be honored for their leadership and contributions as parish priests with honorary degrees on Oct. 11 at the 2012 Alumni/ae Convocation.
The Rev, Michael G. Dresbach, priest-in-charge of All Saints Episcopal Church and vicar of Mision Cristo Rey, both in Watsonville, Calif., and the Rev. Robert E. Reynolds, priest associate at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Terrace Park, Ohio, will receive honorary Doctor of Divinity degrees in ceremonies in All Saints Chapel on the CDSP campus in Berkeley, Calif. The conferring of degrees will occur in ceremonies beginning at 5:45 p.m. in the CDSP chapel, followed by an alumni/ae dinner in Denniston Commons.
Reynolds, who received his M.Div. from CDSP in 1966, has served parishes in California, Oregon and Washington. He has been a campus minister at Willamette University and has served CDSP as a field education supervisor, president of the Alumni/ae Council and member of the Board of Trustees. |
