Article: Growing Your Self Worth
The truth is, a person with high self esteem, a greater sense of their value can accomplish much more than a person with low self worth.
I am not talking about self aggrandizement or the person who is pumped up with their own importance. I am also not talking about ego maniacal tendencies where someone thinks they are above the law or others.
People with true self esteem shine from within. There is a light about them. It is as if they remember who they are and why they are here.
Ironically, those with a sense of their self worth are usually humble. Yet, that can be a deceiving quality because those with low self worth can appear humble too. True self worth means no higher/lower game.
Authentically humble means, there is an appreciation and an understanding of the wonder and interconnectedness of all life and that they are not alone in their pursuits of harmony, happiness and balance. That we are all one.
Those with a sense of self worth know that they are here on the planet to contribute in some way. They also realize that discovering what that contribution is, may be part of the journey.
The academic world teaches learning a skill(s) which can grow self esteem. Yet, the truth is, growing your self worth is really an inside job. Schools may teach effective habits, but unless they are supporting the journey within, the true journey of finding one's self worth is sometimes lost in translation.
So it is here, in this teaching as well. I am offering tools to grow a skill set. I will attempt to give my take on growing your self worth but the journey to grow yours is a personal one. However, I will lay out the path, as I see it, for getting "there." Read More...

Greetings!
It has been amazing in Sedona this July. You might want to consider a visit. The monsoon season is here. With thunder, lightening, downpours and big white puffy thunder heads in phenomenal shapes. I really do appreciate this season.
I call it " cloud kissing" time because the clouds seem to have a life all their own. They are quite busy, moving across the sky in forms that look like animals, giants and mystical figures. There is usually one big cloud that looks like it wants to " kiss" or sometimes swallow the other. Hence, the name " cloud kissing."
Normally I travel in the summer months and so don't get a chance to enjoy this weather. What is great about the monsoons here as opposed to the southern states, like Florida ( my partner is from Florida and he says Arizona monsoons pale in comparison ) is that the sun always comes through.
It is a good reminder, that just like in life, when it looks like your personal or professional " weather " patterns are cloudy, the light will always come through. It is a given.
In my own transitions lately, ( my teenage daughter returning to live with me; building a new business ) I have been re-minding myself to look at the blessings in the clouds and the overcast. It is helping me to find the beauty in chaos, growth and change.
Whenever we grow to a new level or are making changes to our current circumstances sometimes it can feel daunting, stormy and overwhelming.
What I have been noticing with clients too are issues directly related to confidence, self worth and valuing who they are and what they do.
In your own internal weather patterns, low self esteem issues can manifest as fear, self doubt, comparison and inactivity i.e. not moving forward.
By revisiting the " why " you have decided to move in your chosen direction, it makes the overcast worth it!
You can learn from the shadows as well as the light. I have mentioned this before, yet it is really a philosophy you might find of value:
Do not be attached to the highs or the lows. The cloudy days or the sunny ones. Because life shifts.
As the spiritual teacher Gautama Buddha said, " attachment is the cause of all suffering."
You are the sun. But without the clouds you wouldn't know your value as the bright light that you are. The clouds are here to teach you to remember who you are. Play with them.
Evolution dictates change. Change is necessary for growth. A lot of the time what you are experiencing as discomfort is really growing pains.
That being said, what helps are tools and guidance for moving through change with ease, grace and flow.

July is a month where the sun is high, friends and family can celebrate the summer and take advantage of recreation time. The autumn season is far enough away that we really don't even have to mention it, yet. But, it will come, and with it big change. It's an election year and 2012 after all. We better learn to let go and go with the flow. It is a good habit to practice.
Remind yourself to make peace with the changes both within yourself and out in the world. Remember if you are struggling, this too shall pass.
If you need help remembering your self value, give me a call, I am all too happy to remind you. :-)
Love and blessings,

9 Tips: The "A" List For Building Self Esteem
Wikipedia has a great definition for self esteem:
"...a person's overall evaluation or appraisal of his or her own worth."
This is about your appraisal of your own worth.
This is key because it means how you see yourself. How you rate yourself. How you value yourself.
Take a minute to do a check in right now...
What rating would you give your self esteem, on a scale of 1-10 in the 5 main areas of your life?
Health Relationships Spirituality Career Finances
What is you self esteem in these areas?
Now, don't be too hard on yourself. Instead aim to shift your mindset around how you are doing.
No matter where you are in your evaluation, the following 9 steps, what I call, The " A" list for building self esteem, should help you raise the bar on how you feel about yourself. - Acceptance -
Basic tenant of life, that it is easier to make any kind of change if you accept where you are first. Practice acceptance of what is, especially where you are in your life process. Check out: Byron Katie's - The Work. What do you need to accept about yourself at this time?
- Appreciation - When we appreciate we extend value. Many are miserly when it comes to extending out to ourselves value of who we are. Practice daily by making a list of qualities you appreciate about you. Then keep adding to it. Include areas in your business and personal life as well as mental, emotional, spiritual and physical aspects. What do you need to remember to appreciate about yourself?
- Acknowledgement -
It is vital to acknowledge your successes. No matter how large or how small. Especially when you are feeling not so great about yourself or are overwhelmed by how much is on your plate. Practice acknowledging your role in the lives of others; your role in the world; your part in the bigger picture of life. Acknowledgement is telling yourself " I recognize the significance." Be mindful of not taking your victories for granted. What do you need to acknowledge is your contribution to life? - Accomplishment -
Get something done in the direction of your goals and dreams. You have to take action to see results. Taking action builds self esteem because you are moving forward. You are not remaining stuck. Practice making a list of action steps to progress you along the path of feeling good. What could you accomplish that would increase your self esteem?
- Allowing -
Allow things to change if they need too. So often times we get stuck in trying to hold on to something that isn't working. It is like we are terrified of letting go. Practice trusting in the process of life and allowing the flow of life to enter. This is a choice and one that when you get the hang of it, really feels good which in turn grows your self esteem. What do you need to allow in you that you have been resisting? - Ask -
A great sign of self esteem is asking for help when you need it. It doesn't matter who you ask for help from, whether physically or spiritually based. People that value who they are ask and then receive the help they have asked for. Practice asking for help instead of doing everything yourself. We are meant to be working together. Plus, getting help makes you feel like you can accomplish more. In turn, your self esteem will grow. What part of your life do you need to ask for help? - Anticipate - Make a healthy habit out of anticipating the good. Look for it and find it! Every cloud has a silver lining. I know sometimes it can feel difficult to find. Yet what I have found is there is always a gift if you put your attention in the right direction. Practice positive expectation. It definitely pays off in building self esteem because you are in the " glass half full" consciousness. It's positive! What can I begin to anticipate that would bring excitement and joy into my life?
- Amore - I had to put this in here because Amore is the Roman/Italian word for love and love definitely grows self esteem. Also, I like the pun on the word, " A more..." because you can ask yourself about the more you need in your life to feel good about you. Practice generating the love vibe in your life. Love your cat. Love the clouds. Love the process. Love where you are. Hug people and get hugs in return. What area of my life is calling for my love?
- Ascend - Look up above the cloud line and know the sun is there. Look up from your sorrows and see the big sky. Grow up in the direction of your dreams. It is never to late. Practice looking at the bigger picture of life. We are all ascending now into our greater selves. Just knowing that can help you overcome the hurdles, spur you on and build your self esteem. Where do I need to rise up and grow UP in my life?
The truth is, you are more valuable than you remember yourself to be. You are an aspect of the greater pulse and stream of the great cosmic ALL THAT ISness. Yes, you forgot. That is okay. We all need reminders.
The practices and questions in this article are meant to trigger you into a higher state of self esteem. Use them and you will feel differently, I assure you.
To tidy up this discussion, remind yourself that in your personal process of evolution, you are better than you were but not as good as you are going to be!
You are made of stardust and dwell among the stars!
Remember WHO YOU ARE...
