 Historic Lakeport's Summer Charm

Known for its popular recreational activities and free Friday night concerts in Library Park during the summer, the lovely little town by the lake will host the annual Taste of Lakeport coming up on Friday, August 17. This festival draws over 700 people each year and features the best of Lake County fine wines and gourmet food, with up to 20 pairings.

Come September, a grand sidewalk sale with fabulously priced treasures springs up along Main Street on Saturday, September 15, followed on September 29 by the Splash-In, the largest amphibious air show in the Western United States.

But, one needn't visit Lakeport during an event to enjoy all this quaint, historic town has to offer. Picnic, swim, or launch a boat at tree-shaded, lakeside Library Park. Luxuriate at charming Victorian bed and breakfast inns like the 1876 Lakeport English Inn or spend the night at Skylark Shores Resort where you can dock your boat on-site and take a plunge in the pool. Enjoy casual lakefront dining at TNT's Mexican restaurant, get a wider lake view at Bigg's 155 Diner, or go gourmet at Park Place restaurant.

The shopping is delightful, with funky antiques at Second Time Around, a vast selection of computer games at The Game Shop, and the relaxed, literary atmosphere at Watershed Books.

To top off your visit, pick up a self-guided Historic Walking Tour brochure and stroll downtown to learn about Lakeport's past dating back to the 1870s.
