"Jerk" Turkey Burgers with Oven-Roasted Sweet Potato Fries
Contributed by: John Adamson, Chef
Brassfield Estate Winery, Clearlake Oaks

"This is a family recipe of mine that is simple enough to make after a day at work but has a flavor profile that is really exciting and unique. Be sure to make extra sweet potato fries! The kids love 'em."-Chef John Adamson
Yield: 4 servings
For the "Jerk" Turkey Burgers...
1 1/2 lb ground turkey
1 large egg
2 tablespoon "jerk" seasoning
4 hamburger buns
1/4 cup mayonnaise
4 lettuce leaves
4 tomato slices
4 red onion slices
salt and pepper to taste
Combine first 3 ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Form into four patties and grill slowly over a wood or charcoal fire until done. Build hamburgers with remaining ingredients.
For the Sweet Potato Fries...
3 lbs sweet potato, cut into 1/4" x 3" strips
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
salt and pepper to tase
1/4 cup vegetable oil
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine all ingredients in a bowl. Place on baking sheets, in one layer, making sure not to overlap the fries. Bake until fries begin to crisp on edges, gently turning over with a spatula every 10 minutes, about 30-40 minutes total. Place cooked fries in a large bowl. Toss with salt and serve immediately. |

Electric Boats?
Yes, electric boats. The Lodge at Blue Lakes has a new fleet of electric vessels for rent...boats, yachts, and even pontoons.

Take a cruise, swim, fish, suntan, or even picnic from an electric boat. Fun for the whole family or a group of friends.
Make a weekend of it by taking advantage of one of the Lodge's package deals or rent a boat for the day.
Planning a special event? Make it a memorable one in the newly renovated Special Events Center, Blue Lakes Outdoor Events Center, or the Indigo Pool.
