Join Jim and Susan Duran and the Bible Society of Maine for an unforgettable experience - a three-day trip to Amish Country in beautiful Lancaster, PA. where we will explore Amish history, clothing, customs and culture. We will also be guests of the Sight and Sound Theatres (sight-sound.com) to enjoy the breath-taking production of "Jonah."
This incredible theater offers a larger-than-life experience that is perfect for a show of this magnitude. With a 300-foot wrap-around stage, we will have great views from any of the 2,000 seats. The theater puts to use live and "animatronic" animals, pyrotechnics, a state of the art sound and lighting system, 3D video imaging, and more to bring Jonah's story to life. These incredible stage elements coupled with fabulous acting, brilliant costumes, and memorable musical scores with choreographed dance routines make this "story of the ages" a fabulous experience for all ages.
Here is what we have planned for you:
Schedule
Friday, April 27, 7:00am:
We will depart the Portland area (location to be announced) and travel by Custom Coach bus to Lancaster arriving early evening. There will be stops along the way for lunch and stretching. Upon arrival, you can choose to dine at any of the several restaurants within walking distance of our hotel, the Comfort Suites.
Saturday, April 28: (Daytime)
Welcome the day with a free continental breakfast at our hotel or choose a local restaurant to start your morning.
12:30pm - During the day on Saturday, browse nearby shops and local attractions on your own (local bus routes available to most malls) and/or come with us to visit The Amish Farm & House (bus departs hotel at 12:30pm). The 206-year old house will be one of the highlights of your experience. Built in 1805, it had been
home for many generations. Knowledgeable guides will take us through the house on a 45-minute guided tour, explaining the lifestyle of the Lancaster County Amish.
