Talk to me
MDP Goldberg
Dr. Dick Goldberg
In the field, during an emergency, it is critical that the first responders be able to talk to the Core Medical Group led by Dr. Goldberg.
Mountain Disaster Preparedness is asking for help in acquiring radios for this dedicated volunteer team of health professionals.

Woodies SV 2012
Viv Larsen and Bill Baker
The Woodies Speak to us.

Impassioned by their eleven year history of service to the communities of the San Jacinto Mountains, one by one, each member of the Woodies rose and told us of their prior lives, their commitment to each other and to the valuable abatement work they do.

Resourceful by nature, they devised a program to recycle the wood as firewood for underserved people in our area.

They want to continue this work and are requesting specific tools and supplies such as gasoline, snake proof leggings and a lightweight chain saw for the women in the group. Learn more about the Woodies.
Listening and Learning On-Site
Grant applicants 2012
We invite you to join us as we get out into the Idyllwild Community. Over three days in June, after reviewing the grant proposals, all of the members of the Advisory Board of the Idyllwild Community Fund got up close and personal with applicant non profit organizations serving Idyllwild residents.  We learned about the projects that have been designed to serve the community by fulfilling one or more of ICF's specific missions:
                nurture the arts
foster the education of children and adults
provide for the well-being of those in need
                protect the environment
contribute to the safety of our Idyllwild community

Come along with us.......we're happy to share our journey.

Phase III of the Garden Club's Beautification Project
Garden Club SV 2012
In the garden with Antoinette Berthelotte
and Mike Feyder

Promoting the use of drought resistant California native plants and educating the Idyllwild community about the selection, care and use of native plants are just two of the goals of this three year project undertaken by the Idyllwild Garden Club on the Historical Society Museum site.  Here, Antoinette Berthelotte explains, with great enthusiasm we might add, the cooperative project to ICF Advisory Board members.

Speaking of history......

Hist Soc SV 2012
Making history easy to find.
Want to know who did what, when and who lived where and with whom?  Lots of what, where, and when answers may solve the mysteries of our treasured mountain home.

This project by the Idyllwild Area Historical Society will place years of history on line and accessible to everyone. Our history makes us relevant and enriches our journey.  The goal is to make all back issues of the Town Crier, 1946 to present, available on line in a format that allows rapid keyword searching. Bob Smith gave us an impressive and informative description of the process and its value to researchers and everyday citizens.

ISIS goes green.
ISIS SV 2012
Suzanne Avalon and Howard Shangraw
Isis Theatre Company
is asking to update their antiquated and inefficient lighting system.  The requested LED technology produces very low heat, has an exceptionally long life and low power consumption.

Known for their willingness to share stage equipment with other non profit groups, and their commitment to creating enjoyable theatre experiences for Idyllwild residents and visitors, Isis Theatre Company members are thinking about the future and a sustainable environment.

During the site visits we asked some very hard questions. Information gained is then shared with the entire group and careful deliberations begin.  We examine each application with attention paid to the number of people served, the thoroughness of the research done in preparation for the grant and the feasibility of completing the project.

We know that we represent many donors and contributors and take our responsibilities very seriously.

Join us on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Rainbow Inn when our 2012 Grant Recipients will be honored.  Watch your email for an invitation.  Save the date now.
