Karen defines the mission......... With unemployment in Idyllwild over 18% and the economic recession continuing, Idyllwild has been especially hard hit. The HELP Center serves more than 600 clients and many more are in need.
The Board of Directors and staff wish to thank the ICF for the funds given to us. In 2011, those funds helped 146 clients with their utilities. When a person is cold in Riverside, they can put on a sweater. Here in the mountains, with winter temperatures in the teens, the cold can be a life or death situation.

Colleen and Kimberly carry it out......
Clients are greeted and served by Colleen Manchee and, on some days, Brynnley and Caden. Last month, February 2012, Colleen arranged for food for 243 clients, wood for 129 and helped another 59 with medical/dental services.
Kimberly manages the Thrift Shop and serves local, regional and international customers.. From clothing to furniture, from household items to collectibles, Kimberly merchandises the inventory and organizes the volunteers so that monies raised can benefit Idyllwild families in need. . |

Jorgine Brause knows how to help....
When Jorgine and her husband Barney, arrived in Idyllwild 23 years ago, she had no idea that she would become a very active member of the Idyllwild community. She began by teaching ESL, first at Elliot Pope School and than at Idyllwild Arts Academy and finally at the College of the Desert.
Her community service life saw her serving on boards of IAA, ICF and, of course, the HELP Center. While she and Barney enjoy their life in Idyllwild and in Palm Desert, Idyllwild has been the recipient of Jorgine's talents and passions. Even today she continues to volunteer in an elementary school serving migrant farm workers in Mecca. On behalf of Idyllwild, thanks Jorgine.
