ISIS Calendar
2012

In the winter, when road conditions make it harder for cast, crew and audience to get up the hill, ISIS offers First Fridays Reader's Theatre at the Quiet Creek Gallery in the center of town next to the Rustic. "Dear Liar" by Jerome Kilty is up next on February 3rd. This coming July 4th weekend, "12 Angry Jurors" will be directed by Howard Shangraw, who is the Chair of the Theatre Department at Idyllwild Arts.

For more info visit the Isis website.

Applying is easier in 2012.
We are making your life easier and saving trees.  In 2012 you will be able to complete the application process for an ICF grant online. Watch our website for more information.

Isis Theater Co.....Presents
a lesson in sharing for all of us

"I am thrilled to be part of The Idyllwild Community Fund (ICF). This wonderful organization searches out the very best of Idyllwild and awards actual money to the hardworking volunteer-based non-profit companies that do so many good things for this town.

I love the concept that your donation to The Idyllwild Community Fund is forever. It is invested by financial experts, thus never actually spent. It's the interest made on your donation that the ICF is able to give away, year after year after year.  This is how so many great things get accomplished in Idyllwild."

.......Summer Brown, Guest Editor

Summer was Treasurer of Isis for seven years. This is her second year as an ICF Board Member. She is also a member of the French Club.

ISIS Theater Company, a Jewel in Idyllwild's Crown

Founded in 2003, Isis is a non-profit that keeps giving back to our community by producing 3 main-stage plays every summer, 5 theatrical readings over the winter, and a Christmas Show every year. No one is paid, not the actors, the directors or the tech crews.  All give freely of their time to present first class theatre to our village.

Over the years, Isis has presented over 40 productions, including "Our Town," "String of Pearls," "Sylvia," "Sh-Boom, " "The Glass Menagerie," "The Elixir" and "The Guys." Proceeds from the performance of "The Guys" went to the Idyllwild Fire Department's Equipment Fund.

Suzanne Avalon, founder, president, and artistic director of Isis, is probably the hardest working woman in showbiz today, tirelessly bringing new productions to town, searching out new talent for cutting edge performances, and finding new plays that will excite, yet work in the smaller venues available in our town.

Here's the sharing lesson.

Isis has been awarded 3 grants from ICF: lighting equipment in 2008, a portable stage in 2009, and sound equipment in 2011. All of these items have added immeasurably to each production. Isis also 'pays it forward' by allowing other non-profits to borrow this equipment for their fund-raising presentations, most recently for the Help Center's "Murder at the Howard Johnson, directed by Conor O'Farrell, and ICRC's presentation of Mick Lynch's "Out of the Pine."

Welcome New ICF Board Members and New Officers

We are thrilled to have four new members of the community join the Idyllwild Community Fund.  New Board members Brian Cohen and Ron Krull will be serving three year terms.  The 2012 alternates are Mike Esnard and Carolyn Lowman.  Welcome....let's go to work.

Our Officers this year come to us with years of experience and lots of enthusiasm.   We will all benefit from the contributions of President--, Dave Pelham, Vice President--Jim Taylor, Recording Secretary--Diane Suechika and Corresponding Secretary--Ed Hansen.

Board 2012 Best

Our guest editor, Summer Brown, has lived in Idyllwild for 29 years.

Summer taught French at Princeton High School after graduating from college, but soon made her way to the West Coast in a Volkswagon bus, traveling with her husband Eddie. Stops along the way included a year in Mexico, 10 years in San Francisco, and many more years in Los Angeles. Summer discovered Idyllwild on a get-away weekend and never left.

Today she is the Owner of Earth'n Fire, the Paint Your Own Pottery Store

which has been in business for 16 years in the center of town.

Till next time......The Idyllwild Community Fund Executive Board.
