Helping Out, A Holiday Tradition
Janice Fast
As a long time resident and preeminent volunteer, our guest editor, Janice Fast, has been an invaluable member of the Executive Board.  She usually arrived at our monthly meetings in her wood cutting clothes because she had just finished her "work" with the Woodies.

For years she owned the Ponderosa, a pet grooming, care and boarding business.  Not surprising that Janice volunteered to be the editor of this newsletter.

As she completes her service to ICF, she has this to say about her mission to encourage organizations to simply cooperate.
"Happy Holiday Season.  I feel proud to have been asked to serve on the ICF Board,  I am even prouder of the progress I have seen in the non profits working together for the benefit of the community."

Animal Rescue Friends began in 1994 and is an all-volunteer grass roots, no-profit organization with a mission to rescue animals that have been abandoned, lost or whose owners are no longer able to care for them.

In 2011 the ICF helped ARF meet the goals of educating people about the importance of responsible pet ownership including the need for spay/neuter.  In 2011, 200 cats and dogs were rescued, 50 lost pets reunited with their owners and 152 animals were adopted.
"Chloe" goes home with Nick of Hollywood after being rescued, treated and fostered by ARF volunteers.

In 2011 ARF opened a part time well animal veterinarian clinic.  In their new location on Highway 243, they have more space for cat and dog introductions and are planning to incorporate the vet clinic.  With a new email lost and found service, many more people are notified of lost and found animals.  ARF is open Saturdays from 10- 3 and Sundays from 11-3.

Learn more about ARF, their services, volunteer fostering opportunities  and available adoptions on the ARF website or send an email.  The phone # is 951 659-1122.
Our Holiday Message to Idyllwild
Thank you
If you are looking for a way to give back to Idyllwild, the Idyllwild Community Fund is the one local organization whose purpose is to make a difference in the lives of the greatest number of Hill residents.

Since an Idyllwild couple first gave a generous gift to our community in 1996, continued donations have enabled the ICF to grant  $146,000 to local non-profit groups.  Each year grants are carefully determined by a board of your peers with a focus on health and safety, education and the arts.

All it takes is one hand and one heart, and your tax-deductible donation to continue this chain of giving that supports projects all over Idyllwild.  And, since none of your original gift is ever touched--only the interest earned on the secure investment, your gift, whether large or small, creates a lasting legacy that will keep on giving to the community for years to come.

We thank you in anticipation of your gift and wish you health and happiness throughout the coming year.
