Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Idyllwild

The goal of the Idyllwild Community Fund, whose capital assets consist of donations made by generous members of our community, is to encourage and support programs run by local non-profit organizations that:
           nurture the arts
foster the education of children and adults
provide for the well-being of those in need
           protect the environment and
contribute to the safety of our Idyllwild community.
We hope you enjoy our newsletter describing the worthwhile activities of our grant recipients.

Grant Recipient 2009, 2010
SMR Garden      October 28th marked the beginning of the Living through Transition and Loss Program.  We learned that human connections are formed through shared story. Together we took the risk to share our stories and our losses, learn of the misconceptions about grief, explore our myriad feelings, appreciate the courage it takes to grieve our losses, and experience genuine care and support from one another.
Our last session was December 9th. A final reflection I offer is that I believe we lived the words written by Stephen Levine and found them to be true.  "There are pains that cannot be contained in the mind - only in the heart."
We shared quite deeply and honored the journey that each of us is on. We did open our hearts to one another and there found great love and compassion.

Gourd Class ICRC CAN With the Idyllwild Community Fund "starter grant" we have been able to purchase basic staples for our Community Arts Project: tables to work on, stools to sit on, and baskets to hold art supplies for our adult art classes.  Our first class was a gourd making class held at the "Art Pad" on the Idyllwild Community Center property.

ICF Welcomes New Board Members
New Board Members Each January, the ICF Executive Board welcomes new members.    We appreciate the commitment these Idyllwild residents have made to helping nonprofit organizations in our community.  From left to right: Carol McClintic, Alternate Summer Brown, Dianne Suechika, Alternate GiGi Kramer, and Trish Tuley.  If you know and interact with these folks in Idyllwild, please do not hesitate to ask them about the Idyllwild Community Fund.

We welcome you as interested supporters and invite your contributions, ideas, and suggestions.

Sincerely,

Bronwyn Jones and Diann Coate, Co-Chairs
Idyllwild Community Fund
