Dear Friends,

Carole Kane

Carole Kane

M.A,.N.C.C. ret.

Welcome to Living Happy,  a nice way to feel and be our best!  Rather than concentrating on all the "bad" news in today's media, Living Happy is  about good, interesting, and fun things for everyone.

To be our best, we need to keep our mind, body, and spirit  working in harmony:  Keep informed!  Keep fit! Eat well!  Laugh!  Love!  And give thanks!  Doing all this, we feel better, think better, and look happily towards each new day.

Please feel free to contribute, comment, or criticize to your heart's content (a spiritual thing!).  Look for the "Comments" link below.  Happy reading!

Finding Peace - Loving Ourselves
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We've got appointments, jobs, classes, extracurricular activities, shopping,  pets, spouses, children, family, household chores - Let's put some peace into our day, before we burn out!
Find a time of day, and a place somewhere in your home, where you can have five minutes without any interruption.  Make that spot clean and uncluttered, even if it's just a little corner somewhere.  Furnish it with a comfortable chair, a box of tissues, a bottle of water, a comfy, soft  fleece throw blanket, perhaps a picture of someone you love, and a piece of chocolate or favorite little snack.
Next, unclutter your head:  Leave the electronics and phones somewhere else for these few moments.  Give yourself permission to spend  five minutes in peace, without worrying about anything.  Tell yourself you can continue worrying when you leave this wonderful spot.  Now, sit down, take a deep, long breath, close your eyes, and just...  exist.  After a few minutes, you'll be ready to take on the world again, with renewed vigor and much less stress!
This is  a wonderful gift to give your most important loved one - YOU.
Be Informed - Hoax E-Mail ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I recently received an e-mail with the subject "CANCER UPDATE FROM JOHN HOPKINS."  The person who sent it  believed it was a true e-mail, and she was kind enough to share it with me.  In fact, it was so interesting that I wanted to share it with you,  but just to be sure, I checked out the Johns Hopkins site for documentation.  Turns out, it was a HOAX.  One clue I should have noticed was that the subject said "John" Hopkins, not "Johns" Hopkins.
Here is part of the rebuttal article written by actual Johns Hopkins personnel:
"E-mails offering easy remedies for avoiding and curing cancer are the latest Web-influenced trend. To gain credibility, the anonymous authors falsely attribute their work to respected research institutions like Johns Hopkins. This is the case with the so-called "Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins."
The gist of this viral email is that cancer therapies of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy do not work against the disease and people should instead choose a variety of dietary strategies..."
Absence Excuse letter from Pierre Roget's mom to his teacher
"Please excuse Pierre for missing school yesterday.  He was sick, ill, unwell, stricken, nauseated, run down, feeling queasy, yucky, punky, under the weather, down in the mouth, and green around the gills."   From the MENSA BULLETIN - February 2011
Two hydrogen atoms meet.
One says, 'I've lost my electron.'
The other says, 'Are you sure?'
The first replies, 'Yes, I'm positive.'
Sent to me in an e-mail from good friend, author Max Toth.
Thank you for all the nice comments about Living Happy!  My ego and I love them!
Mary, Irene, Steven, Susie, Brad, and maybe Al,  have all expressed  interest in contributing an article.   What a wonderful variety - a travel agent, a martial arts expert, a science fiction writer/illustrator, a TV studio executive,  a world traveler/ writer, and maybe a Prince.  I can't wait!
Wouldn't  YOU like to contribute an article?
Lose some pounds...
Forget what you ate!
Include at least one fruit or one vegetable in each of your meals.  If you mess up and also eat some "bad stuff" (aka Mallomars), just forget it.  Don't obsess over it!  Guilt can lead to even more overeating, in an attempt to comfort ourselves because of the guilt!
At your next meal, start over.  Include at least one fruit or one vegetable.  Truly enjoy the meal.  Then forget it.
You don't need to think about what you ate, what you are eating, and what you will eat later.  Why beat ourselves up, feeling guilty about something we can't change?  Eat each meal, then JUST FORGET IT!  Start over with every single meal you eat!  See what happens on the scale!
TIP:  Breakfast just might be the most important meal in our day!  That's one meal to REMEMBER to eat!
