Harvard Student Group
South Asia Mens Collective (SAMC) announces their Asha-India Internship Program 2012
A transformational summer immersion with the leading urban poverty alleviation NGO in India.
SAMC+Asha invite applications from promising undergraduate students who wish to make the most of their skills and pursue their passions during the summer of 2012.
Interns will get the opportunity to study Asha's model of urban poverty alleviation and can get involved in a number of ways - carrying out health surveys in slum areas, teaching English to children, or shadowing medical staff. This year Asha is working on a major initiative to send 5,000 students to university, and the interns will play a big role in this effort.
Interns must be prepared to help in whatever area their assistance is needed most. It is essential that they are comfortable living and working in a developing country, and sensitivity to different cultures and an adaptable nature is also required.
All interns must commit to a minimum of 1 month with Asha. The internship is unpaid. Past interns in the SAMC/Asha internship received funding through sources such as the South Asia Initiative (funding deadline February 17, 2012) and the Office of International Programs (funding deadline February 10, 2012).
To learn more about this partnership and to apply, please send your resume with a brief cover letter detailing your personal interest in this internship to Kartikeya Mital and Naveen Murali by 5pm on Friday, February 24th, 2012.
