Summer 2012 Internship Partner Spotlight:
Project Dharma
Project Dharma is a social enterprise that aims to serve the needs of rural households at the Bottom of the Pyramid (BOP) by creating a rural retail network providing customized products and services sold at a socially affordable price point. Dharma also aims to provide micro-finance/credit solutions for rural entrepreneurs and consumers. Products currently offered include solar lighting, smokeless cook-stoves, water purifiers and nutritional drinks, mostly manufactured by large MNCs.
Project Dharma is offering an 'Intern - Product Portfolio and Social Impact' position through SAI. The outcome of the intern's work will be a social impact assessment and product selection framework to be standardized across the organization. The intern will assist in short listing of potential new social impact products as well as handling creating a framework for product selection, pilot, launch and impact assessment. |
Summer 2012 SAI Internship Partner Spotlight: Katalyst
Katalyst is considered to be one of the most successful market development projects in the world. Since its inception in 2003, Katalyst has achieved significant employment and income impact by increasing the competitiveness of farmers and micro, small and medium sized enterprises in selected urban and rural sectors in Bangladesh. Katalyst follows a pro-poor market development approach in promoting economic growth. Read more on their website. Katalyst has two Monitoring and Results Measurement Research Assistant positions available for Harvard students.
Qualified students should have a basic understanding of and interest in market development and poverty alleviation. Preferred background in: Economics, Business, or Social Research.
Katalyst will also arrange for boarding, transportation, per diem, and all field related costs for the interns.
