Introduced by Prof. John Briscoe, under whose direction they worked this past summer in Pakistan, the students outlined their internship experiences and what they learned about the difficulties facing the use and management in all sectors on the largest federal waterway system in the world, the Indus River in Pakistan.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam at Harvard

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Eleventh President of India, was the distinguished guest for South Asia Initiative's Annual Harish C. Mahindra lecture on September 27, 2011.  During his presentation titled "Empowering 3 Billion," he spoke about his Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas (PURA) Initiative.  He highlighted the ongoing need for 'creative leadership' from people with 'righteous heart' who 'lead by example' as essential to the empowerment  of these three billion across the globe.  Imagestranscript of his talk, and video are available at our website.
