Jordu Schell

Jordu Schell returns this July!

For those of you who love fantasy art, sculpting, creature design, movies or monsters, we have two exciting workshop offerings this Summer!

Jordu Schell's Creature Building Workshop will run July 11-15th, teaching students the basics of creature design, mask making and casting.

Students will build their own half-mask, start a maquette of their creature and observe a full week's demonstration of Jordu building a full mask from start to finish. Class participation is limited to 30 students to make sure every individual gets a great seat and one-on-one tutoring from this master creature builder. Cost is $450 plus a $100 materials fee.

July 18-22nd, Jordu will be teaching his Sculpee Techniques Workshop.  During this one week class, students will build a 1/6th scale maquette of their own creature design to completion, with full color and accessories. Jordu will be working among the students the entire week, sharing his tips and solutions for many common challenges and teaching color blending techniques that make your creature come to life. Cost is $400 with students providing their own materials.

For more information on either class and to sign up, contact Blaze via email at brankauti@gmail.com.  To see Jordu's work and list of Hollywood credits, check out his studio at www.schellstudio.com.

Dead Body opening January 2011
Over Dead Body

Coming soon - "Over My Dead Body," a show by Arthur V. Commerce. This show will hand from Jan 21 - Feb 19th with an opening reception on Saturday, Jan 29th.  Arthur tells us: "So why the morose title? It's simple. All the spray paint fumes I'm inhaling are killing me.My studio is a dark, unfinished basement with no ventilation.I'm surprised the furnace hasn't exploded from all the fumes.Yet, I spray on.Couple this with the face that in order to find time to paint I had to give up sleep, and you've got a recipe for disaster.A life of toxic fumes and sleeplessness all for the sake of art.Brilliant?Or just plain stupid?Only time will tell.Until then, it looks like more contact buzzes and energy drinks for me.And for you?I can only hope you get some joy from my pain. And buy some stuff, too."

We won something!
The Spirit Gallery window won New London Main Street's "Window to the World" downtown storefront decorating contest! Woo hoo! We teamed up with Little Print Communications to decorate the empty storefront of 60 State Street in a Japanese holiday theme (complete with 19" fake Japanese Christmas cake!) Thanks to everyone who voted for us! The window will be up until Christmas, but you can click here to see photos for those of you who live further away.

We look forward to bringing you our highest quality tattoo work and best customer service this Winter and beyond.  Thank you for your support, and we look forward to drawing for you soon!

All best,

Blaze, Lari, Frank and Stacey B
