Aloha! 

Halau i Ka Pono - the Hula School of Chicago warmly invites you to join us this Saturday, August 11th at 38 Lake Street in Oak Park to listen to our friend and wonderful musician Jason Poole, aka the Accidental Hawaiian Crooner.   
 
Jason is visiting us from his home in New York, and will be playing beautiful Hawaiian Songs, offering intriguing stories of the Islands,  and providing backdrop to gentle hula.   The fun starts at 7:30pm.  Hope to see you there!  The cost is 10 dollars in advanced or 15 at the door. 
 
Ipu Making  Workshop

Make a Hawaiian styled single gourd or use wood burning tools and dyes to create a decorative styled gourd.  Artist Millie Gordon teaches you how to decorate your gourd. 
 
Saturday, Aug 11th  9 -11:30 am.  $50.00
includes a gourd, usage of wood-burning tools and dyes.


Hula Workshops
 
Modern Hula Auana
Feeling out of sorts and want to try something new or fun?  The beautiful dance of Hula is the right medicine for you!  It's a moving meditation, Hawaiian-style!  You'll review basic steps and then learn a new Hula.  Beginners are welcome.  11:30 - 1:30 pm

Classical Hula Kahiko
The ancient dance of Hula gets you in touch with nature and gives you a taste of the grounding values of Hawaii.  For  men and women with one year experience or permission of Kumu June.   1:30 - 3:30 pm. 
 

Kumu Hula June Kaililani Tanoue teaches both workshops.  Ages 16 and older, men and women. Cost: $30 for each workshop or both for $50.
