Hunt Test Tip:  The Navesink River Hunting Retriever Club is hosting Pat Nolan for a two day seminar - The Art and Science of Retriever Training - on June 9 & 10, 2012 at Assunpink WMA in Robbinsville NJ.  The flyer and registration form can be found on the NRHRC website and on the BRDS website.   You don't want to miss this opportunity to learn from the best trainer out there!

Obedience and Rally Trial Tip: I recently gave a seminar at Trifecta Kennels on "5 Steps to Improving Your Performance".  High on the list was "don't train for good enough".  Pay attention to the non-principal features/details of each exercise and strive for perfection in  your training.  Motivational games are great ways to keep your dog up and focused while you train for 'great' on those all important details.

Our Buddies at the Bridge....

One of the hardest things we ever do is say goodbye and of late we've sadly said farewell to some remarkable dogs.

El Nino (Steve & Denise Miller)....a delightful and spunky Shih-Tzu who showed us all that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!

Maddy (Ruth Morgan).... this FCR was a Therapy Dog extraordinaire and poetry in motion in the rally ring.

Indy (Mary Meila)......a kind, gentle soul and incredible working partner, Indy was the kind of golden that gives goldens a great name.

Versatile K9 Sports Club

A new dog club  - the Versatile K9 Sports Club - has recently formed.

The club's main goals are to promote the many and varied dog sports - both old and new -  and to improve the human/animal bond.

The VK9 Sports Club will be offering trials, workshops and seminars on various dog-related topics that are of interest to the membership.    It will also provide a social outlet for people who love dogs, enjoy competing with them and learning more about this wonderful companions!
