It's one of the Coachella Valley's more intimate art festivals in a beautiful setting featuring Fine Art, Fine Music, Fine Wine and Fine Food!

New Commission! 54.5 X 84 inch Golden Oasis series triptych
 |
Golden Oasis #3959 triptych, 54.5x84", $4800
|
This is my illustration of the proposed large scale triptych for Nagui and Diana's home in Bel Air, CA.
Nagui emailed me a photo of their living room wall with dimension. I created this triptych idea from a photo of one of my artworks they saw and loved at last month's Affaire In The Gardens Art Festival in Beverly Hills, CA.
Last week, I visited Nagui and Diana at home. We finalized size - overall dimensions will be 54.5 x 84 inches - and agreed the colors of their new artwork will be brighter and bit more red. Next I'll make and send color samples for their approval!
They also purchased three 20 x 20 inch Golden Grasses series artworks which will be framed and installed above the bed in their master suite!

Works on Paper Arches 88 Prints Available
 |
Golden Grasses #3250, 11.5x11.5", $85
|
These stunning "proof" prints are made on Arches 88, a thick high quality art paper with beautiful deckle edges. I prepare them the same way I do canvas and hardbord surfaces: applying two coats of a metallic gesso followed by two coats of a clear inkjet receptive emulsion. They show how the metallic under painting influences the color of the finished artwork, the original purpose of these proofs.
But they are so beautiful, luminous and textural, in their own right, I decided to share them!
They are available in two sizes ready for framing: 10x10" on 11.25x11.25" paper, mounted on a black, archival, 16x16" fome-cor board at $85; and 12x18" on 15X21" paper, mounted on a black, archival, 18x24" fome-cor board at $125.

Back In The Studio! Artfest Circuit Breaker
 |
La Blanca Paloma - Mark's Studio
| So happy to be home, in my studio, making art, breathing, planning, dreaming... Relishing this respite from the slam packed mega mile high octane art festival season that's traveled me to Houston (TX), Dallas (TX), Beverly Hills (CA), Ojai (CA), Des Moines (IA), Chicago (IL), Salem (OR), Bellevue (WA), Park City (UT), Chicago (again), Sausalito (CA), Kansas City (MO), La Jolla (CA), Beverly Hills (again) and La Quinta (CA). So happy to have given it my all. Grateful, grateful, grateful for my success and for the bountiful opportunities to learn and improve. Enthusiastic to finally be able to give life to ideas gestating for months! |
Picturing the Liminal Artwork On The Threshold ...
 |
Golden Grasses #6086, 20x20" plus frame, $560
|
I heard the word three times in as many days - right when I was creating the first Golden Grasses artworks. The contexts in which the word was used intimated intriguing meanings, so I looked it up on Wikipedia and ... BAM! It spoke directly to the central theme of the Golden Grasses series and much of what my art seems to be about. "Liminality" (from the Latin word līmen, meaning "a threshold") is a psychological, neurological, or metaphysical subjective, conscious state of being on the "threshold" of or between two different existential planes. The liminal state is characterized by ambiguity, openness, and indeterminacy. One's sense of identity dissolves to some extent, bringing about disorientation. Liminality is a period of transition where normal limits to thought, self-understanding, and behavior are relaxed - a situation that can lead to new perspectives." --Wikipedia What do you think? |
