Marketing Tip from Rebecca Best Plankey
Influencing the Client Experience
Have you ever considered all of the factors that influence the client experience? Two areas that are easy to assess are 1) providers of the service and 2) the environment in which it is delivered. Here are a few questions to ask yourself which are critical to a positive client experience:
Do frontline service providers greet each client with a friendly hello? Do they answer the phone and assist the caller without annoyance? Is your lobby kept neat and clean? Do you have pertinent reading materials for your clients to read while they wait? Is staff equipped to address client needs? If not, do they know where to direct the client?
What do your reports and proposals look like? Have they been updated lately? Do you have an easy to read invoice? Do you use the invoice to ask for referrals?
These questions only touch the tip of the iceberg as it relates to a positive client experience. By addressing issues related to this experience you develop good working relationships with your clients and encourage them to recommend you to others. In the end you will create a better work environment in which everyone will benefit. |

Technology Tip from Paul Wade
As businesses rely more and more on technology, we are constantly making decisions on when to replace or upgrade existing technologies. Will that four year old server give us one more year or should we replace it now? How many personal computers need to be replaced this year? The answer generally boils down to productivity; but often it is not very easy to measure the productivity lost or gained by keeping or replacing existing technology. Being a numbers guy, I wish it could be boiled down to actual dollars and cents but that doesn't happen very often.
I recently read an article from a very reputable technology company in the accounting world on when to replace personal computers. The answer was simple. Was it more than 4 years old? Did it still run Windows XP? Or did it run with less than 1GB of RAM? If the answer to any of those questions is yes, then the computer needs to be replaced.
The three questions in your business might be slightly different but I think this is a good guideline. Don't hamper your employees' productivity by giving them obsolete or antiquated tools.
