Marketing Tip from Rebecca Best
Taking the Social Media Plunge
Do you want to include social media into your marketing mix? The first step to doing so is to outline what you are doing now. Usually activities that you are already engaged in can be transitioned into social media very easily. Start with an inventory of non-social web actions you are taking and find ways to integrate them into your Facebook or Blog pages. Don't make social media something you have to do on top of what you are already doing, just remember that when it comes to social media it is especially important to de-fluff your writing. From there you can build your reputation of being a capable, trustworthy professional and perhaps even an authority in your industry by capitalizing on your existing efforts.

Technology Tip from Paul Wade
Is there anyone out there that doesn't have a smart phone at this point? I was not an early adopter of cell phones, camera phones, etc. But at this point, I'm pretty well addicted to my Android-based smart phone.
One interesting app for Android phones is called Intuit GoPayment. It actually allows your phone to accept credit card payments for your business anytime, anywhere. There are a number of other apps that do the exact same thing. When it comes to traveling for business or pleasure, I love the built-in Google Navigation app for my phone. It works exactly like those Garmin GPS units that sell for $200. Just make sure you have a car charger to keep your phone from dying while using it.
At this point, business-related apps for smart phones and iPads have just begun to scratch the surface. There's no telling what we'll be doing on them in the near future. |
