SAP to Host I'm Going to College! Day | |
I'm Going to College! Day, presented by the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Scholarship Advisement Program, is a one day program to inspire and prepare Choctaw high school students to attend college. The program will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at the Southeastern Oklahoma State University McCurtain County Campus in Idabel, OK. Presenters will teach students how to select a college, what they should be doing now to prepare for college success, how to fill out a college application, and where to apply for financial aid and scholarships. Registration begins at 9:30 AM and workshops will conclude at 3:00 PM. Lunch is provided. Attendees must bring a copy of their Tribal Membership card. Approaching Deadline for Harvey Scholarship at SOSU! | |
Deadline to apply is July 1, 2012
The O.J. and Mary Christine Harvey Education Foundation was established by the late Dr. and Mrs. O.J. Harvey to provide financial assistance to qualified full-time students who have a financial need and a strong desire to pursue a college degree. Choctaw students who have completed at least two semesters of college and are currently enrolled at Southeastern Oklahoma State University are encouraged to apply. Students must submit an application and attach the following:
- Current College Transcript
- Summary of Personal, Academic and Leadership Accomplishments (resume acceptable)
- Typed essay on background, why you want to obtain a college degree
- Two letters of recommendation from non-family members

Scholarship Advisement Program Co-Hosts 3rd Annual Pre-College Workshop for Native Americans at The University of Tulsa

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma (CNO) Scholarship Advisement Program (SAP) and The University of Tulsa (TU) recently co-sponsored a three-day program for Native American college-bound students on June 17-19.
The TU based Pre-College Workshop for Native American Students was designed to give high school students the tools and knowledge needed to navigate their way through the complex college admission process. Students from Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas represented the Choctaw, Cherokee, Modoc and Pawnee tribes. Nine Choctaw students were among the 15 Native American students who attended the college preparation event this year.

SAP Scholarship Opportunity: Tina Willis Memorial Scholarship
The Choctaw Nation Scholarship Advisement Program is excited to announce the Tina Willis Memorial Scholarship will be offered again by the Tina Willis Memorial Scholarship Committee. Two students will be selected this fall to each receive a $500 scholarship.

Lyle Deer Memorial Scholarship to be offered by the Oklahoma Tribal Transportation Council
The OTTC Scholarship Review Board invites college juniors and seniors to apply for the Lyle Deere Memorial Scholarship. The recipient will receive $500.00 toward tuition costs for the 2012-2013 academic year. Deadline to Apply is July 15th.

SAP Scholarship Opportunity: Tvshka Chunkash (Heart of a Warrior) Scholarship
This scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship created by Captain Teri Scroggins and provided through the Choctaw Nation's Scholarship Advisement program. Offered on behalf of all the veterans of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. This award is presented every fall to a student whose life and educational goals have been affected by these wars and the veterans who have served in them.
