Consortium to offer a free ACT (college entrance examination) test preparation course for CNO members Tuesday, February 22 at Oklahoma City University's Meinders School of Business in the Gardner Conference Room. The workshop starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at noon. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. CNO students who have taken SAP's free workshop give rave reviews to the program leader, Chad Cargill of Harrah, Oklahoma. In his freshman year of high school, Cargill knew he needed to win scholarships in order to attend college. That's when he also discovered that many scholarships were based on ACT scores. For Cargill, the journey was on. Choctaw students planning to attend the ACT workshop must be members of the Scholarship Advisement Program and bring a copy of their Choctaw tribal membership card to the workshop. Native American Pre-Law Day at University of Oklahoma

What is it? Native American Pre-Law Day is an all-day seminar at the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

When is it? The seminar will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday February 12, 2011.
How much does it cost? The seminar is absolutely free - paid for by a grant from the Law School Admission Council.
Who should plan to attend? Any Native American college student or high school senior who has an interest in attending law school should plan to attend this event! You can register online.
For one day, Native American students with an interest in attending law school will be given the opportunity to hear from Native American attorneys as they discuss their backgrounds and careers.
Students will also hear inside tips regarding the law school admissions process, as well as advice on how to finance a legal education. Furthermore, the event will feature current Native American law students, detailing their experiences and explaining what law school is really like!

NIEA Logo Design $1,000 Grand Prize!

What is it? An opportunity for Native American artists to design the logo for the 43rd Annual National Indian Education Association Convention - an important Native American event.
What will the winning artist receive? The winning artist will receive an award of $1,000, and will also be invited to the convention's Honor Banquet at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.
When is the deadline? All artwork must be submitted by Friday February 18, 2011. Each artist may submit up to two separate logos. Submission forms can be found online.
The Oklahoma Council for Indian Education is looking for a Native American artist to design a logo that will be used for the 43rd Annual National Indian Education Association (NIEA) Convention!
In order to enter the contest, you must be a member of an Oklahoma Tribe, and you must turn in your logo by Friday February 18, 2011. You may submit up to two separate logos, but all logos must be comprised of no more than four colors, and must be clean and simple with a contemporary feel. The logo must connect to the following theme:

The U.S. Office of Minority Health Resource Center is in the process of developing American Indian/Alaska Native Youth related digital educational materials. Along with our partners, Kat Communications, and the IHS HIV Program, we are seeking American Indian and Alaska Native artists that can portray regional and cultural areas.
We are accepting ALL styles and themes of American Indian/Alaska Native Art. Traditional, contemporary, alternative process, digital, mix processes, and experimental works are welcome. All art must be original and appropriate for conversion to a digital format.
