readers of BISKINIK (the official newspaper of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma) have been receiving an online version of the tribe's 35 year-old monthly periodical.

So can you.

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma online version of its tribal newspaper is an  easy-to-read newsletter -  BISKINIK E-News - that  is delivered straight to your email inbox twice a month.  The CNO Scholarship Advisement Program (SAP) urges everyone interested in following news of the Choctaw Nation to sign-up to receive the tribe's free E-newsletter.

Issues of BISKINIK E-News feature selected stories from the current issue of the BISKINIK Newspaper condensed in a brief easy-to-read format.

"One to two issues of BISKINIK E-News are sent to our subscribers every month," says Lisa Reed, BISKINIK Editor.  "Each story in the E-newsletter is a two to three paragraph shorter version of the full story in the BISKINIK.  And each story also includes a "read more" web link that readers can click to go to the complete story in the BISKINIK E-News Archive.  The archive is hosted on the News Room page of  ChoctawNation.com."

Signing-up for BISKINIK E News is easy, according to Reed.  "Just scroll to the sign-up box at the bottom of the home page at ChoctawNation.com  and enter an email address.  We've also structured our sign-up form to better serve readers' areas of interest.  Subjects readers can choose include:   Government, Tribal Economy, Services, History, Culture and Heritage, News Room, Giving Back, and Education."

Early readership statistics show BISKINIK E-News is popular with readers.   Open and click-through rates are more than double national averages for E-Newsletters.

Each BISKINIK E-News is packed with links to other locations on the CNO Web site.  From the BISKINIK E-News readers can:

  • Go directly to an online version of the current issue of The BISKINIK Newspaper.  Just click the BISKINIK icon (at top left).
  • Go directly to The BISKINIK Newspaper archive to find recent issues of the paper.  Just click Search Archives.
  • Forward BISKINIK E-News to a friend.
  • Join the mailing list.  Just click Sign Up to Receive BISKINIK E-News.
  • Click on links to the prior month's BISKINIK E-News stories.
