oma (CNO) Scholarship Advisement Program (SAP) is nearly here. There's still time to sign up to attend if you haven't already done so. Just Login to your account on SAP's Web site and click the Submit Ivy League 2010 Registration link.
Not a member of SAP? It's easy to join. Go to SAP's Web site at www.choctawnation-sap.com and click join SAP. It takes less than 10 minutes to complete your online application. Once you've joined, simply Login to your account with your user name and password and click the Submit Ivy League 2010 Registration link.
Thirty-nine of America's best undergraduate and graduate school programs will be recruiting at this year's Ivy League and Friends. The all-day event will be held at the Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for prospective students and parents to meet one-on-one with recruiting representatives from the leading schools in the nation.

Here's a quick guide to the events that will occur on Saturday, November 6th at Ivy League & Friends:
Saturday November 6th
8:00 am - 10:00 am STUDENT REGISTRATION Choctaw Conference Center Lobby. Students and their guests will check in and receive name badges and event information including complete event schedule and map of Choctaw Casino Resort. Breakfast will be provided
8:45 am - 11:55 am BREAKOUT SESSIONS Choctaw Conference Center. There will be undergraduate and graduate tracks for breakout sessions that will include: University presentations, general sessions offering information on admissions and financial aid and sessions dealing strictly with parent information.
12:15 pm - 1:30 pm LUNCHEON Choctaw Event Center. Luncheon guests will include school and organization representatives, students, parents, educators, tribal leaders and local dignitaries.
1:30 pm - 3:30 pm COLLEGE FAIR Choctaw Event Center. Meet 1 on 1 with 21 of the nation's best undergraduate programs. Meet 1 on 1 with 18 of the nation's top graduate programs.

Duke University
| |
Located in Durham, North Carolina, Duke University, is a private research university. The university was originally founded in 1838 in Trinity before moving to Durham in 1892. Duke is divided into two undergraduate colleges as well as ten professional and graduate schools and seven institutes. The university has more than 220 buildings and owns 8,610 acres. Much of the land, 7,200 acres, is Duke Forest.
The campus can be divided into four areas: Central, West and East campuses and the Medical center. One of the main attractions on the campus is Sarah P. Duke Gardens, which attracts more than 300,000 visitors every year. The campus is known for its Collegiate Gothic architecture as well as the Georgian style architecture on the East campus. Duke University has one of the ten largest private research library systems in the country with more than six million volumes.

Harvard University

The Harvard University Native American Program (HUNAP) is dedicated to serving Native Hawaiian, Native American, and Native Alaskan students as well as those at Harvard who wish to promote the wellbeing of indigenous tribes. Started in 1970, HUNAP serves to train Native American leaders in education. The program is in line with Harvard's 1650 charter that states it is dedicated to educating the indigenous population. The Harvard University Native American Program has three main goals: research and teaching, community outreach, and student recruitment and leadership development.
Although Harvard does not have an American Indian Studies major, the university does offer courses on Native Americans and issues affecting them. HUNAP supports these courses and offers information on these courses. Additionally, HUNAP is involved in and has information regarding a number of research projects. The Peabody Museum has joined with HUNAP to offer research and course opportunities. Additionally, the museum even offers internships during the summer. The interns will try to be matched with Native American projects when possible. Students can also become involved with the Four Directions Summer Research Program and the Harvard Indigenous Law Clinical Program.

Northwestern University

| |
Northwestern University is a private research university in Evanston, Illinois. The university was founded in 1851. Northwestern started with just two faculty members and 10 students in its first class.
In addition to the campus at Evanston, the university also has a campus in Chicago and a campus in Education City in Qatar. The main campus in Evanston sits on 240 acres while the Chicago campus is situated on 25 acres. Northwestern's undergraduate and graduate programs operate on a 10-week quarter system. Typically, students take four courses every quarter and spend three quarters on campus. In order to graduate, students are required to have completed at least 12 quarters.
The university's library system consists of four libraries on the main campus, three on the Chicago campus, and two affiliated ones. The library has more than 4.6 million volumes. It has one of the largest Africana collections in the world as well as an extensive collection of early edition printed music.

Purdue University

| Purdue University is a public research university and the flagship school of the Purdue University System. The university was first started in 1869 as a land grant university and is located in West Lafayette, Indiana. The first class in 1874 only had 39 students and six instructors. Since then, it has grown into a large public university with a reputation for excellence and affordability. The six instructors have increased to more than 2,500 faculty members, and there are about 40,000 students now.
Purdue is the second largest university in Indiana with 31,145 undergraduates and 8,552 graduate and doctoral students. Six percent of the full time students at Purdue are international students, making it the second largest population of international students at a public university in the United States. The international students are from 123 countries. More than 20,000 of the university's students are from Indiana.

Graduate Horizons

| Graduate Horizons is the graduate version of College Horizons and is run by the same organization. It is a program designed to help Native American college students prepare for graduate school. Graduate Horizons is a non-profit organization in its seventh year of helping students. Although the organization is based in Pena Blanca, New Mexico, it serves students throughout the country.
The Graduate Horizons Program is a four day "crash course" for Native American college students who are considering graduate school for a master's or doctoral degree or a professional school. The program is held during the summer once a year. About 75 to 90 students participate in each program. The program helps college students determine suitable graduate schools and career paths. Students also learn how to finance their graduate education, and develop relationships with faculty and college admissions officers. Test taking tips for the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, and MCAT are covered along with strategies and tips for creating excellent personal statements and essays. It even helps address specific issues that Native American students will encounter in graduate schools.

Harvard Graduate School of Arts & Sciences

| Harvard University's Graduate School of Ar ts and Sciences (HGSAS) is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with the main campus of Harvard University. The graduate school dates back to the 1870's; its name was changed to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences in 1905.
The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences is part of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The college offers a Masters of Arts, Master of Engineering, Master of Forest Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Philosophy degree in more than 50 divisions. Some of the programs of study include philosophy, East Asian programs, Middle Eastern studies, astronomy, and economics. The school also offers oversees PhD programs in Harvard's professional schools: the Harvard School of Public Health, the Harvard Business School, the Harvard Medical School, the John F. Kennedy School of Government, and the Graduate School of Design. The college has 3,682 students with the majority of them in PhD programs. There are less than 200 students in master's programs.

Rhode Island School of Design Graduate School

| The graduate school at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is an intimate program of around 400 students and a highly regarded faculty. Despite the limited number of students RISD offers sixteen distinct graduate programs. Individual graduate programs have as many as 90 students to as few as 8 each year. Because of its small size the students and faculty work together closely and on a more direct level than in larger graduate programs.

Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences

| The Graduate School of Arts & Sciences at Yale offers many programs that lead to a Master of Arts, Science, or Philosophy degree as well as a PhD. Around 6,300 of the11,500 students at Yale are in some type of graduate program. A total of 2,655 are enrolled in Arts & Sciences making it the largest graduate program at Yale. With such a great proportion of students in graduate programs it is no surprise that Yale has devoted many of its human and physical resources towards serving this sector.
A wide variety of degree programs are offered within the framework of the Yale Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. Over 50 degree programs are available including Political Science, Sociology, Management, Nursing, Chemistry, Economics, and Film Studies. The Graduate School also offers joint degree programs with other schools at Yale such as the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Law, Management, and the Medical School. Students can also choose to enroll in the Graduate School and maintain the option to participate in a number of non-degree-granting programs, councils and institutes at Yale.
