| Get Outside!
Get outside and stay outside!
It's what we're telling our kids and it's what we're telling our UG customers too. Grill, picnic, head to the beach or to a BYOB restaurant on the water, go camping, take in an outdoor concert...whatever you do this summer, do it outside.
From cases of Corona to the finest Champagne, we have everything you will need to fully partake in the mad dash of summer revelry. So stop by and see us at the store.
Or maybe we'll see you on the beach. We'll be the ones with the fully stocked cooler!
Best,
TJ and Hadley Douglas, and the staff of The Urban Grape

Urban Tastings
Not many events this July, as we also take time to enjoy summer's slower pace. But don't worry, we've got a fantastic line-up of events for the fall that we can't wait to announce soon. Make sure to join us on Thursday and Friday nights from 5-8 and Saturdays from 2-5 for our regular tastings (you may even be able to request a bottle to taste!). Below are a few event and tasting highlights for the upcoming month:
Thursday, June 30th, 4-8 PM: It's a special extended hours, pre-4th of July tasting blow out as we welcome Dave Willis from Bully Boy Distillers to the store. He'll be sampling three of his fantastic new spirits, all locally hand-crafted in small batches. His vodka, white whiskey and rum are truly fantastic and at $26 are three bottles you'll want to have with you for your 4th of July plans. **Each person who tastes will be entered to win a private tour of Bully Boy's new distillery in the Newmarket Section of Boston! Thursday, July 14, 5-8 PM: Join us for a special Bastille Day tasting as we sample three beautiful French cheeses - Fromage des Clarines, Abondance, and Tomme de Savoie - courtesy of Whole Foods Brighton. TJ will pair the perfect French wine for each cheese, leading to taste bud fireworks for all! Tuesday, July 19th, 5:30-7:00 PM: It's time to get naked at The Urban Grape when we welcome local phenomenon Naked Pizza to the store for a pizza sampling. We'll taste four different pizzas (including one gluten-free choice!) and pair them with a unique and fun beverage choice. Pizza and sake sound good? Or how about pizza and Lambrusco? Come join in the pairing fun. **While this event is free, we are suggesting a $10 donation for the Brookline Teen Center. |

Spotlight Wine: 2003 Campo Viejo Gran Reserva (Rioja)

We've been all around the world since we began our Spotlight wines of the week, but we haven't spent much time in Spain. That changes in a big way today.
The "Gran Reserva" designation is term regulated by Spanish law that can only be applied to exceptional vintages that have been aged for 5 years - two in cask and three in the bottle. These wines are carefully monitored to be the truest expression of their particular region of Spain.
Given that, the original price on this Gran Riserva Rioja is already remarkable at just $20. Made with primarily Tempranillo grapes, the Campo Viejo shows all the classic Rioja aromas of leather, cherry and cranberry. The palette is big and dense and showcases black cherry, dark chocolate and black currant. The wine benefits greatly from a pass through the decanter, allowing it to open up and show itself beautifully. If you are a fan of the flavors of Rioja, this is a wine you'll truly enjoy.
We've been selling out of our Spotlights quickly as of late, so if you want to place an order, please do so as soon as you can, as once our inventory is gone we cannot guarantee additional availability (though we always try!).
Regular Price: $20
15% Bottle Discount: $17
25% Case Discount: $180 (a $60 case savings at $15/bottle)
The Spotlight wine is available at this price until 10 AM, Thursday, June 30. Respond to this email or call the store at 617.232.4831 to reserve your order.

Vote for UG on The Boston A-List!

Between you and us? We're a little tired of asking for your vote for all these different competitions. We should definitely not run for President with this attitude.
But also between you and us? We're seriously competitive. And as of right now we're in 2nd place on The Boston A-List for Best Wine and Beer Tastings with just about two weeks left to vote. Um, who has the most tastings in the land? Who brought you oysters and champagne, Kosher with a Kick, and Yoga with Wine ALL FO' FREE?! Are we really going to lose this thing?
So get out there and vote. Let's show this town what the UG's got.
Just follow the link or click on the photo above. |
