In Like a Lion and Hoping for Out Like a Lamb!

With the flip of the calendar to March, we all find hope springing forth...literally. We hope Spring decides to come forth!

As we approach our nine month mark, we have had enough feedback to understand that it's time to tweak how we communicate with you. Resoundingly, you've asked for weekly emails highlighting special wine discounts, and you may have noticed those recently started arriving every Tuesday morning.

In an effort to not bombard you with emails, however, we are combining our Newsletter with one of those weekly emails. That means the newsletter will now contain our weekly deals, and will no longer contain our monthly recipe and wine pairing. As a compromise you'll find more food and wine ideas on our blog. After all, The Urban Grape is about finding the perfect bottle to enjoy with every meal, and we don't want to lose that connection.

We appreciate all of the wonderful feedback we receive from you each week. If you have some thoughts on the blog or our weekly emails, please feel free to send us your thoughts!

Best,

TJ and Hadley Douglas, and the staff of The Urban Grape

Urban Tastings

Don't forget to join us for our weekly tastings, held every Thursday and Friday from 5-8 and every Saturday from 2-5. These are free events, held for the sole purpose of allowing our customers to try new and exciting wines, beers and spirits at no risk to their wallet.

Some of our March special events include:

March 1st, 5-8 PM: The Cabernet Sauvignon wines from Dunn Vineyards are a true revelation. Smooth, flavorful and perfectly balanced, these wines stay with you long after you've finished savoring every drop. Join Owner and Winemaker Randy Dunn as he tastes us on three of his Cabs, and bottle signs your purchases. Randy doesn't do many events, so this is a very unique opportunity!

March 3rd, 6:00 PM: Join us at The Capital Grille in Chestnut Hill as we taste five outstanding Barolos paired with a specially prepared menu. There are only two seats left, so call Liz at 617.928.1400 to reserve your seats. Tickets are $125.

March 5th, 2-5 PM: They're back! Lord Henry Conyngham and his wife Iona are back to pour Slane Castle Irish Whiskey. Last time they were here, there were tears, an appearance by a college classmate, and many stories about Madonna that we are not allowed to repeat. This time we've added Henry's long lost cousin by marriage, Valerie Conyngham the owner of Vianne Chocolat, who will be debuting her Slane Castle Irish Whiskey caramel.

March 12, 2-5 PM: It's Notch Beer, it's local and it's having its retail debut at The Urban Grape! Join Chris Lohring, brewer and founder of Notch, as he pours Notch Session Ale and Notch Session Pils. Catch this beer now at the beginning and you can say you had it before it became a national obsession. It's that good!

March 13, 6:30 PM: It's the first night of Daylight Savings, which means sun salutations and a wine tasting at The Urban Grape. Join Healthworks teacher Jill Braverman as she leads us in a yoga class, followed by a tasting of Fulcrum Pinot Noir, Illumination Sauvignon Blanc and Namaste Beer. Please call 617.383.6100 to reserve your spot!

March 22, ongoing: Make a reservation at Ten Tables Cambridge (a focus of a recent blog post) as they present the wines of Michel Schlumberger, paired with a special multi-course dinner. Tickets are $65 (tax and tip not included), reservations are available throughout the evening, and a vegetarian tasting is available. Call 617.576.5444 to reserve today!

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: On May 3rd, the Owner and Winemaker of Ramey Wine Cellars, David Ramey, will be joining us for a very special wine dinner at The Capital Grille. The Urban Grape is the ONLY area retail store to have the entire Ramey collection for sale, and all the wines we taste that night will be available for purchase. Tickets are $150 and are going fast. Call Liz at 617.928.1400 to reserve today!

We have a few more events in the pipeline, so please make sure to check our events page regularly, or to follow us on Facebook or Twitter for the latest event information.
