Exceptional Horsemanship Newsletter
Greetings!

Buenos Dias! There's tons of great stuff in this one so read it all the way to the bottom!

Ponder this: The reason to keep your toes up while riding is so your flip-flops don't fall off when you're bareback! I'd really like smilie faces here. Don't know why I can't find them in my options!

Pam Stubbs's yearling Chelby (Walk the Talk) Best Young Horse Champion at Del Mar. Doesn't she look great! I was clapping and got all welly when she won and the woman next to me says, "Is that your horse?" "No, but those are my manners." I said.

How about this new job for my herd! We used Pequenita (Peka), Black Diamond (Black) and Azabache (Bache). Bridal photos!

I asked my brother (who is NOT a horse person) to read my book, Curbside Service, and give me his views. Since I enjoy his dry sense of humor, I've included them here: "I realized that it was probably much harder to train the people than the horse, It seems like a very difficult process to explain the actual training steps, but you did as fine a job as possible in creating a visual for what was occurring. It did not change my opinion of horses one iota. Although I did get a certain appreciation for the similarities in process across a field I had not considered. I particularly enjoyed your dissertation on how the horses count points whether you like it or not. Overall - my compliments."
So, I just asked him to watch my short video that's new on the website:
"That was quite good - just like it says in the book! I thought that was all a bunch of malarkey." Seems he left that 'M' word out of his original book review! :D (Again, no smilie??? I need smilies) Belief in the possibility or the willingness to give it a shot, is a whole different thing, but it's true.

So... Are You Horseman Material????

Horsemanship Material Question - Show Mentality
I started a thread about show mentality on my blog (Horse Musings) and have another thought segment here. So, I'm at the show chatting with some folks whose rider-friend was bringing up their horse for the over fences hunter class. As this is a huge show grounds with more than a dozen rings, there's a lot going on. The mounted horse was coming along on the far side of the arena getting around to the gate and going in the other direction, was one of the tractors that drag the arenas. The walk area was about fifty feet wide. The tractor was at a creep. One of the people near me went into a rage. The "tractor person should be shot", she said. "Killed", she said. She was absolutely incensed that that tractor driver was even allowed on the grounds when he was such an idiot.

As a parent, would you carry your kid to the football field and then expect him to play? Sheesh. The driver wasn't racing, was doing his job, there was plenty of room and a show horse from a really big show stable can't safely and quietly have a tractor go by?

*Soon, You'll be able to get training audio/video/report/blog from me, various amounts of great stuff in various forms.

There's a difference between techniques and technique.
For exceptional results, think "how and how can I".

Columbian saddle Upcoming Stuff
I've been ON!!! Peka, Black AND Bache! Woo-Hoo
I used Bache for most of the Curbside Service DVD because I haven't done anything with her since I got her and she tends to be a bit flighty. Of course, Curbside Service installation really remedies this. I wanted everyone to get the most training from what I show. There is no sense using a quiet horse that's going to 'get it' right away, although that happens most of the time. I'm showing the tougher cases so I cover more options for everyone.

I'm representing this Colombian saddle maker. I have one myself sans horn and love it. The seat is balanced, the leather divine and looks great, too. They have a bunch in all styles to choose from. There's a different picture on my website on the Resources page.

Just got word that Eitan Beth-Halachmy collapsed at the end of his demonstration at the World Equestrian Games. I was scheduled to pop down to TX for his clinic with Jack Brainard in a couple of weeks. Check out CowboyDressage.com. Our thoughts and prayers are with him.

Fabulous fun...    better results, less work and a lot of fun. Gather 9 or so of your friends and barn mates and schedule a 3-hour workshop with me. Something like "The Goldilocks Syndrome" or "Horse Manners 101" or "Enhancing Trainability".  Of course you could do a clinic, too. Whichever... if you have the concepts behind the tools and learn how to incorporate them together, your results will skyrocket exponentially. Yours is free if you do.
Don't forget to check the blog for more training and put in your questions and comments!

Enjoy the Ride,
