Greetings!
2009 was an amazing year for Habitat for Humanity Santa Cruz County!
In a year when our county has seen an unprecedented number of foreclosures and misplaced families; together we celebrate:
We can hardly wait to get started on the next build! There is nothing in the world like the smile of a family when they receive the news that they have a new home !
Habitat for Humanity Santa Cruz County not only has this NEW email Newsletter, we also have a new website at www.habitatsc.org. You can check out the latest build information on the Dawn Lane home, hear from our volunteers, find out how to get involved, and stay connected and informed.
With 2010 under way, we want to take a moment to express our appreciation for your contributions of time, money, and in-kind donations that have supported our local Habitat this last year. It takes a community to build affordable homes for low-income families in Santa Cruz County, and without you, there would be no community, and these two families would have very different lives.
Thank you,
-The Santa Cruz Habitat Staff, Board of Directors and the Habitat Families |
| I'll Be Home For Christmas
The Estrada Family Presented with Habitat Home |
In mid-November Habitat completed the rehabilitation of the 3 bedroom unit at Andy Kriege Corner, and on December 22, 2009, a handful of people met at Andy Kriege corner to welcome Jennifer and Uriel Estrada, and thier two sons to thier new home.
The rehabilitation work on the Habitat home consisted of new interior and exterior paint, new carpeting, replacement of bathroom fixtures, new washer/dryer, new refrigerator and new stove.
After receiving the keys to their new home, the Estrada family left to get their sleeping bags in order to spend the night in their new home. Their plan was to wake up early the next day and get moved in before Christmas. We are happy to report that the Estradas did spend Christmas in thier new Habitat home! Thank you to everyone in the community that made this new home possible for a wonderful family! Read about it in the Sentinel! |

Please remember to join friends and supporters of Habitat for Humanity at the Shadowbrook Restaurant on March 2, 2010. On that evening, the Shadowbrook Restaurant will contribute 1/3 of the food and beverage sales from Habitat supporters to Habitat. Please make your reservations early and help finish the build at Dawn Lane in Soquel.
Thank you for your support of Habitat; every nail, every inch of wood, every part of every home, from top to bottom, comes from the generosity of our community. Without organizations, and individuals like you, there would be no community, and Habitat would not be building homes in Santa Cruz County.
Thank you for everything you do to nurture Santa Cruz County,
