Visit Kenya in August, it is winter there

Greetings!

There are many satisfying moments in an effort such as is taking place in the village of Rionchogu in Kenya. Watching the interaction and immediate friendships of travelers and villagers meeting and embracing the others reality, culture and humanity is one of the greatest of these moments. This past visit was very emotional for me as I witnessed so much connection. I knew it would be so, but the two groups of people made me feel especially blessed to 'just watch'.

So it is with great confidence that I say to you; come with me in August, take a step into the unusual, come visit the rural village of Rionchogu, Ogembo, in Kenya. You will not be sorry about your decision.

This may well be the life changing experience for you that it has been for each of the travelers in the past. From the very first group in 2008, to the most recent group, this exposure to another way of life, even for a short time, changes the way you see and celebrate life. It is very positive and most humbling. I can not prepare you enough for the joy you will experience.

We have expanded the travel experience by adding two 'tourist' opportunities. We will take an evening tour into London on our stay over and then as we depart the village for home we will do two days and a night on the Masai Mara, SAFARI. The Masai Mara is the amazing expanse of animals and terrain that has made Kenya one of the most sought after Safari destinations. The cost will be a little higher than in the past, but the past travelers say this is an ingredient we should add, so the option is there. If you are going to Africa, do a Safari.

August is winter in the southern hemisphere. August is winter in the village. However the village is near the equator so there is little seasonal difference.

August is summer in London. With summer come longer days and extended evenings. This trip the evening in London promises to be spectacular. We will visit the Tower, Buckingham Palace and Parliament as well as a visit to Piccadilly Circus for a late meal.

This evening begins as we are picked up at the airport, our guide will take us to the hotel for check in and then OFF to London for the evening. You will be back in time for a nights sleep and then the airport and off to Africa.

Upon completion of our stay in the village. Yes, we will stay in the village compound (on site) you will be hosted, fed, waited upon (they would have it no other way as hospitality is a purpose and cultural identity) and engaged by the wonderful people of Rionchogu village and their neighbors for five nights and four days.

Next, Masai Mara;

What else is there to say, the Masai Mara is the northern extension of the Serengeti, this is one of the places where in all of Africa you will find all the big 5; Elephant, Leopard, Lion, Rhino and Buffalo. One day you will experience the amazing sunrise and another the equally dramatic sunset. Your chances are excellent to see all the big 5, but for sure you will see an array of the wild life of Africa that will astound you. As one of our travelers said after a recent visit animals, animals, animals everywhere you look. All the pictures you see here are from our own experiences.

The scenery is dramatic and the residents (animals) are free to roam. Maybe you will happen upon the home of a family of Cheetah or your guide will take you to see what they say are the most dangerous of animals, the Hippo. Real life takes place there, real life for the animals includes the battle for 'turf' and the right to lead. All this in this incredible place, the Masai Mara.

You will see the Giraffe and much more. The epic reality of the Mara, from sunrise to sunset and all that lives for you to see in between. London, village life, Masai Mara and new friends you will not forget. Memories you will treasure.
