Sunday Matters Progressive ... Inclusive ... Diverse | October, 2010
|
Greetings!
Sure you could say about every Sunday that it matters, but the next several will be particularly significant in the life of CPC as we take a long, hard look at the present moment and think together about what the future holds. This Sunday promises to be particularly spirit-filled, and our texts for the day include words from the prophet Joel, and a bit of Jesus' first public remarks in Luke. The meditation is called "Confessions and Commitments." I hope to see you Sunday morning. Come and worship. peace,

Session Takes No Action on Irving St. House
The small task group that looked into the property that sits between the parking lot and the playground reported back to session last week, noting that the property should be sold as a tear down. The owner is asking $750,000. The county assesses the lot at approximately $500,000. Session agreed without dissent to take no further action at this time. We thank Reg Mitchel, Hal Logsdon, Tom Hull and Karen Kimmel for examining the property and the financial aspects of the opportunity.

Fun Stuff Coming Your Way Soon!
The next Wii Kirk is on the church's calendar so mark yours! Friday, November 5, we'll gather in Wilson Hall to enjoy the artisan pizzas of Clark Chesser and Cheryl Lederle (AKA, Mr. and Ms. Pizza), play some games on the Wii, and have some good conversation.
We open the doors at 6:30 p.m. and the party usually goes till 9:00. So run, rush, drive -- do what you must -- but don't miss Wii Kirk! Share the joy: invite a friend.
The Lederle-Ensign clan also invites you to their annual cookie baking open house to celebrate the season of Advent. This year the cookie bake will be Saturday, December 11, from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. We'll have a steaming pot of chili, and enough sugar, butter and flour to put a small army into a food coma. Mark your calendars!
