Gracias! & Help ...
Thanks to Karen Kimmel and Cheryl Lederle for impromptu coffee time Sunday.

We've come to end of our sign up sheet and are now looking for volunteers for the fall. We'll have a sign up sheet at church this Sunday, so check your calendars and pick a Sunday that you can host. Hosting is easy, and involves bringing some goodies to eat, setting up the coffee pot, and cleaning things up after.
Now is the Time to Lead
The nominating committee is talking with church members about leadership positions in the congregation, including serving on session. If you would like to suggest a candidate or would like to be considered, please send a note to Toni Bissessar.
Party Time!
Our Session-sponsored "parties with a purpose" have begun, and the first one was a great deal of fun and produced some excellent ideas and reflections.

Over the next several weeks each member of session is going to host a small gathering of CPC community members. These gatherings will provide opportunity for relationship building and also for some good conversations about the future of CPC.

So please be on the lookout for a call or note from a session member inviting you to a small-group gathering, and please make every effort to join.

A splendid time is guaranteed for all!
Come Kick Off Fall at CPC
Progressive ... Inclusive ... Diverse
September, 2010
Greetings!

cross
This Sunday we kick off the fall program calendar with worship and a pot luck brunch.

If you've been away for a while, this is a great Sunday to step back in.

We'll talk together, in worship and over brunch, about plans for the coming year, so it's also a great day to bring a friend to discover what CPC is all about.

Fun! Food! Friends!

We're planning to have a good time together Sunday, and you can help by simply sharing a bit of yourself. Send me a note (revdocdee@gmail.com) with some fun fact about yourself.

We're breaking bread together, so bring something to share with the community. It's a true pot luck.

Come and celebrate the gift of community!

peace,

Clean Up Spiff Up Saturday

This Saturday morning from 9:00 to noon we will be cleaning the grounds at church. There are lots of tasks for all levels of skill and energy!

Please let Karen Kimmel know if you can be part of this spiff-up Saturday.

We'll have a good time, share some sweet treats, and get some work accomplished.
Cindy and CalvinWhen I Was Hungry ...

Last fall at our one-day, open-space visioning retreat a couple of items emerged with great clarity: CPC is called to be a place of hospitality and welcome to those who have been historically shut out and marginalized by the church, and we are also called to feed our neighbors.

We been doing both of these for a long time, and will continue to do so with renewed energy. Along these lines we have several mission opportunities that we'd like to explore, including further participation in feeding Arlington's street people through A-SPAN, and investigating the possibilities of using some of our own green space as a community garden to provide small amounts of fresh produce for AFAC and to raise money for AFAC through selling herbs at the Wednesday farmers market at the Clarendon Metro.

If you are interested in either of these opportunities to feed the hungry in Arlington please let me or Molly Demaret-Tahu know.
Make a Joyful Noise!

As we begin the fall program season the choir will be singing most weeks. We are always looking for people who like to sing. You don't need to make a lifetime commitment, just join us for a week or two whenever you can. We gather on Sunday mornings at 9:00 to practice and usually meet two evenings each month as well for one-hour practices. All are welcome!

All are welcome at Clarendon Presbyterian Church.  We are a community that tries to reflect the love and justice of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
