Gracias!!
Thanks to Jeannette Regetz for hosting coffee hour Sunday. We look forward to Mike and Clarke's culinary arts this weekend.

If you signed up to host coffee hour this summer the sheet is posted on the bulletin board in the main hall outside of the church offices. The information is also on the calendar on the church web site.

Summer Schedule
Summer time always brings a more relaxed pace and schedule at Clarendon. Reflecting that reality, beginning in June the weekly e-blast will become a biweekly event till September.

Greetings!

cross
Please hold Gillian Burgess and her family in the light. Her mother, Susan, died last week in Charlotte, NC. Gillian and Grant are in Charlotte with her family.

Gillian's mom was an elected public official in Charlotte, and the Charlotte Observer offered this appreciation.

We are a community that bears one another's burdens, binds one another up, loves one another always. In this we witness together to our resurrection faith.

peace,

windowSession Continues Restoration

At its June meeting, Clarendon's session acted to replace windows on the first and second floors of the church building. The project, likely to begin in July, will cost approximately $28,000, and will be paid for out of the principle of the capital improvements endowment funds. Session will use proceeds from the larger Founders' Endowment this year and next to recapitalize the capital endowment.

The window project has been on the capital improvements list but damage from last winter's snow storms made the work more urgent. When broken windows were replaced this spring the contractors were asked about repairing the other windows and the workers literally laughed at us. The existing wood frames, which are more than 50 years old, have rotted beyond repair and there is little or no glazing left on many of the window panes.

The new windows will provide much greater protection against the elements and will make the building more secure. We appreciate your patience through this project.
worshipA Summer of Special Worship
Vespers and Ice Cream!

Summer seems a perfect time for relaxed worship in the beauty of God's creation. This summer we will step outside for worship one evening each month, beginning Tuesday, June 22.

Weather permitting, we'll gather on the "grassy knoll" on the playground for a brief time of community worship filled with story, song and prayer.

Then we'll share a tasty summer treat and some good fellowship.

If it's raining we will move into the sanctuary.

Looking down the road, we will hold vespers services Tuesday, July 20, and Tuesday, August 24.
moneySummer Giving

Summer is a time of gracious Sabbath, and most of us will spend some time away over the next several months. The kids and I will be in Chattanooga for a week in mid-July, and I'll be down at Camp Hanover as pastor-in-residence for two weeks in August.

It is easy in the midst of all the traveling to forget a few details. One details I'd encourage you to be mindful of is your pledge to the church.

We sometimes run into cash-flow issues during July and August, and we'd love to avoid that this summer. You can help by keeping current through the summer. If you have any questions about your pledges (or if you did not make a pledge to the 2010 budget but would like to do so now) please contact elder Reg Mitchell.

Thanks so much for your faithful support of the mission and ministry of Clarendon Presbyterian Church.

not in books alone, but in every leaf in springtime."
