Choir Practice
Come and sing with us!
Choir practices next Tuesday, May 18, at 7:00 p.m.
We also rehears each Sunday morning at 9:15.
Gracias!
A big "thanks" to Karen Kimmel for John's birthday cake.

Thanks to Ron Bookbinder and James Fisher for decorations for the birthday bash, and thanks to all those who helped clean up.
Worship Team
The worship planning team will meet in classroom A downstairs during brunch Sunday. If you'd like to help shape our Sunday morning worship time please join us. All are welcome.
Nametags!
Sunday will be a "nametag" Sunday. Find yours on the bulletin board outside of the sanctuary and put it on.

If you don't have one, or if yours has been lost, send me a note this week and a new one will magically appear for you this weekend.

It really does help our visitors if you have on a nametag.

Greetings!

Harry KnoxHi all,

This week I am winning the battle of technology (thus far) and I'm happy to share the good news of this week at CPC!

We have focused throughout this year on ministries of feeding and hospitality, and this third Sunday of May we will bring those together. During worship we will receive and dedicate our monthly food offering for the Arlington Food Assistance Center, and following worship we will share our final 3rd-Sunday Brunch of the spring. You can support both of these efforts.

For AFAC, please bring in non-perishable food items. Last month we contributed approximately 100 pounds of food. Let's top that for May. Bring your offering to worship and the young people will help me collect it all during worship. We will deliver it to AFAC Monday when we gather there at 7:00 p.m. for our monthly grocery bagging work.

Everyone is welcome to join that effort and then to come over to our house for a simple meal and good conversation. It does help us to know about how many we'll be feeding, so RSVP -- but don't let a lack of response keep you from attending!

Sunday following worship we will share a brunch. You can contribute to the effort offerings of food or set-up/clean-up assistance. Amber Hodgen is coordinating, so please let her know what you can offer. The theme of the brunch is strata, but we'll take whatever food you want to bring!

I look forward to seeing you this weekend as we break bread together and share from our abundance with our neighbors in need.

peace,

David
Worship Notes

Sunday morning worship includes something old, something new, something borrowed and, well, this note is on blue.

No, it's not a wedding, but we are singing a new-to-us hymn and a hymn that borrows a tune from Haydn. We'll read the "old, old story" as we almost always do -- this Sunday's texts are John 17:20-26 and selected verses from the last chapter of Revelation. The meditation is "Alpha, Omega and All That."

We'll receive our monthly food offering for AFAC during worship as well.

Pride-Filled Worship and Witness

June is Pride time and once again we will show our colors at several joyous events.

First, Thursday, June 10, at 7:00 p.m., People of Faith for Equality Virginia sponsors the fourth annual NoVA Pride Interfaith service. This year the Metropolitan Community Church of Fairfax is host and the theme is Faith Out Loud!

On Saturday, June 12, we'll join our More Light friends in walking in the DC Pride Parade. We gather at Church of the Pilgrims (22nd and P St. NW) at 5:30. This always a huge amount of fun, and is the one chance you will get this year to receive a 1.5-mile standing ovation simply for showing up and being a Christian.

Sunday, June 13, is the Pride Festival, and we will have a presence in the More Light booth. If you'd like to be part of that please let me know. The festival is a blast and this year we are going to try a "Story Corp" type interview project to capture the stories of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender person's experiences with church. Should be interesting!

Mark your calendars for these, and I will see you there.
