Greetings!
OOOOPS! The e-mail you received moments ago had the subject heading from last Sunday. Not sure how that happened but the congregational meeting has not been postponed (yet).
We're keeping a weather eye out and hoping for the best right now, but there is certainly a chance that we will be unable to gather Sunday. Session and I will make a decision Saturday afternoon and I will share that with you all via an e-blast and a message posted on the church's answering machine, web site and Facebook page.
Presuming that we are able to gather Sunday is a big day in the life of CPC. We hope to welcome new members into the community. We will celebrate the sacrament of communion. We'll have a potluck brunch following worship. And we hope to include the rescheduled congregational meeting as part of the brunch.
Meanwhile, we're going to have a snow removing "party" come Saturday. If you can lend a hand please let me know and I'll share the details as soon as we pin it down.
I hope to see you this weekend ... and now we shall wait and see.
peace,
David

Worship Week (and Plan Fb)
Worship Sunday morning will be rich and full.
Our texts for the day include two of my favorite passages in all of scripture: the call of Isaiah (Isaiah 6:1-8) and Luke's account of the call of the first disciples (Luke 5:1-11).
The sermon is "Lord and Savior." (As always, if you are not able to make it to worship you can still check out the sermon at the sermon blog.)
The young people will continue to lead us in mission this Sunday as they receive the annual Souper Bowl of Caring offering. If you don't know the story of this offering you should check out the history of an event begun 20 years ago by a Presbyterian youth group in South Carolina who raised a bit more than $5,000 their first year. Last year, across the country, more than $10 million was contributed to food support programs. The proceeds of our offerings Sunday go to the Arlington Food Assistance Center.
Plan Fb If we are not able to gather safely Sunday morning I'm going to try an experiment in virtual worship. At 10:00 a.m. check our Facebook page for a brief message and some questions for conversation. Then you can post thoughts for community reflection. We'll also have a time of prayer requests. If the technology cooperates we might even have some music!
Here's hoping that we don't have to use the fallback plan, but the remarkable communication technologies to which most of us have ready access are a gift.
