| MEET THE CANDIDATES | |
Our final candidate in the search for CCS head of school will arrive this week. There will be a parent session at 2:00pm on Thursday, October 7th in the café. Our candidate will present a ten minute overview on his educational philosophy, followed by Q&A. All parents are encouraged to attend but it is especially important for those of you who attended the meeting of our first candidate to help establish a comparison. As a reminder - if you DID attend last week's meeting, please provide your feedback to the search committee by email to sclerici@charlestoncollegiate.org. Parent feedback is a critical part of our selection process. |
| SUN DEVIL OF THE WEEK | |
Congratulations to Stuart Bowers and Paola Macias for being nominated Sun Devils of the week for upper and middle school. Stuart was nominated for her positive attitude and enthusiasm towards school, and for always being so complimentary to students and faculty. Paola was nominated for being such an organized, hard working student. She was also recognized for her willingness to help others. Maddie Flowers is the Lower School Sun Devil of the Week. She was chosen because she is always willing to help her classmates!
Our teacher Sun Devil of the week....Congratulations goes to Jodie Haynie. The lower school students all gave her lots of cheers, and a very cute rush of little hugs. Jodie was nominated for her overall enthusiasm, and positive attitude in all the things she does: camping, coaching, comforting, teaching, and coordinating the PLT.

| 5TH & 6TH GRADE AFTER SCHOOL PICK UP- NEW POLICY | |
In order to help ensure the safety of your child, we are beginning a new policy for the after school pick-up of 5th and 6th grade students. If your child will be getting picked up between 3:00 and 3:30, he or she will be waiting in front of the Lower School entrance as usual. In order to help make sure that your child goes home with the correct person, please send the name of the person who will normally be picking up your child to Julie Balliet in the front office ASAP. 5th and 6th grade students should check out with the teachers on Middle School carpool duty who can then be sure that your child is placed in the car with the correct person. If someone else is picking up your child on a given day, please notify Julie Balliet in the front office. Also, if your child is planning to go home with a friend after school, you need to notify the school and let Julie Balliet know who your child will be leaving with. She will provide this information to the teacher on carpool duty so that he/she can check the identification of that person and help you to make sure that your child is going home with the correct adult. After 3:30, students still on campus and not involved in an after school practice or activity, will be with Ms. Selby in the library. You may pick them up there. Again, we ask that you notify the front office if someone out of the ordinary will be picking up your child. Ms. Selby will be with students until 4:30 at which time they will be sent to C-Club and you will be charged the normal C-Club hourly rate. Your child's safety is our #1 concern! Thank you for your cooperation in this effort. Please contact Gretchen Batalis with any questions.

| GINGERBREAD HOUSE | |
Gingerbread House Requests During the week of December sixth, the little green trailer on campus, turns into a holiday boutique for the lower school students. They will come with their class to do their secret shopping for family and friends. We are asking parents that if during their fall cleaning, they consider donating new or nearly new items to this endeavor. Currently, we are in need of gifts for dads, grandpas and older brothers, but any resalable merchandise will be appreciated. Nothing will be priced over $5, and also, consider that items need to take up just a little bit of table space, so no over-sized items please. You may drop donations in the front lobby, and label them "Gingerbread House." There are also opportunities for parents to get involved during that week, by volunteering their time to a myriad of elfly duties. If you're interested in joining in, please contact Lois Daughtridge at 708-8972, or email: loisdaughtridge@me.com.
