APRIL 26, 2010
Greetings!

Middle & Upper School summer reading lists have been posted to the CCS website. (The Lower School list will be posted when it's ready.) Please note that US students also need to complete the US Summer Reading Form as instructed on the list.

Belated congratulations to arts teacher Will O'Donnell on his wedding the weekend before last! Mr. O'D and his wife, Laurie, were married on Saturday, April 17th.

Have you registered for the May 26th Sun Devil Classic golf tournament yet? Registration forms for this annual fundraiser are due on May 1st. Visit the Sun Devil Classic page on our website for event details and registration information.

Thank you to everyone who participated in last week's Green Week events, particularly Science Night and the Lower School Camp Out! We'd specifically like to thank Bobby Hemingway, Laura Garland, Molly Olson, and Kate Williams for all their efforts on making Science Night a success. Likewise, Friday night's camp out wouldn't have been nearly as much fun without Jodie and Brooke Haynie's excellent (and creative) organization of the event.

LS campout (rainbow)
Kendall Reilly captured this photo of an enormous rainbow over the CCS campus on Saturday morning after the Lower School Camp Out.

If you know of any fellow parents who are not receiving weekly announcements, please forward this to them and encourage them to contact the front office to insure we have their correct e-mail address. Announcements may also be viewed on the new flat-screen televisions posted by the school's front office. Visit our website for the latest news and updates at www.charlestoncollegiate.org.
MIDDLE & UPPER SCHOOL PROGRESS REPORTS
The fourth quarter effort grade progress reports and academic progress reports for Middle and Upper School will be sent home at the beginning of this week. We have changed the format to allow you to have access to some additional information including attendance and individual assignment grades. I hope you find this information to be helpful as we finish up the school year. Please feel free to call or email with any questions or concerns so that we can work together to help your son or daughter finish the year successfully!

FROM THE YEARBOOK ADVISOR
Spring Picture Proofs
photographer2Proofs for spring pictures (taken in early April) have been distributed to LS homeroom teachers and MS/US advisors. If your child had a spring picture taken, you should review the proof and decide what photo package you'd like to order. Order forms with payment are due Monday, May 10th. LS students should return theirs to their teachers; MS/US students can return theirs to the front office. Remember: picture orders are also a fundraiser for the school, so any photo package you order also helps CCS.

If you have any questions about ordering, please contact Ms. Pelzer. For general question about the photos, please contact Strawbridge Studios customer service at 1-800-326-9080.
FROM THE ART DEPARTMENT

2010 CCS SUMMER CAMPS
summerBrochure Available
You should have received the Charleston Collegiate Summer Camps brochure in the last couple of weeks. We are offering 24 different morning and afternoon camps this year. Our popular drama/music, basketball, digital film, and arts and science camps are returning along with some new offerings which include, lacrosse, dance, and Kinder camps.

The brochure is also available on our website by clicking here. Please contact Mr. Neale at rneale@charlestoncollegiate.org if you have any questions.
SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS FOR MS/US
Wondering what your Upper or Middle School student is going to do this summer? On our website is a list of summer opportunities for middle and high school students -- including academic, artistic, international, and outdoor experiences. This list has been compiled from information sent to the College Counselor; some brochures are also available for viewing in Ms. Pringle's room. (For more information, please visit the website for the individual programs.)

Click here to view the list posted on the CCS website.
LOST & FOUND BIN
All students and parents should check the Lost & Found in the rear of the café weekly. The Lost & Found bin will be emptied every two weeks. If a child's name is not in uniform clothing (a silver Sharpie works well for marking dark items), these items will be washed and resold by the Parents' Association.
H1N1 FLU SYMPTOMS & VACCINE INFORMATION
sickWe continue to have confirmed cases of H1N1 Flu at the school. To help identify this flu strain's symptoms (vs. regular flu or common cold), please see the H1N1 Flu symptom chart posted to the CCS website.

DHEC Vaccine Clinics
DHEC has recommended that we strongly encourage all of our parents to call 953-0090 to schedule vaccination appointments ASAP. The vaccination is available at DHEC free clinics: the sooner our families call, the easier it will be to get an appointment, and the safer the campus will be for all of us. Please call and schedule an appointment for your child to receive a free vaccination ASAP.

School Policy
An important reminder about school policy on student illnesses: if a student is out sick, he/she is only allowed back to school after being fever/symptom-free for 24 hours without the help of medication.
Have a great week,

Jaquelin Pelzer
