Greetings!
Thank you to everyone who came out for Inside Kiawah's Finest Home Tour on Saturday to support the school. Despite the cold weather and SNOW, we had a great turn out and a lot of fun.

The CCS Parents' Association and Friends of the Library would like to thank all students, parents, grandparents, and friends who supported the Book Fair last week. We raised more for the Library this year, put a lot of books in students' hands, and had a lot of fun! Thanks to everyone for their help, participation and enthusiasm!

Congratulations to Guidance Counselor Jill Kujawski on the birth of Lily Mae Kujawski, born on Friday, February 5th at 2:37 am. (Weight 6lbs. 11oz.) Jill reports that "Everybody is doing great, especially Collin who is very excited to have his baby sister here!"

grandparents day
Special thanks to all the grandparents and grand friends who came out to enjoy a day with the Lower School on Friday! We had a terrific turnout, and the students enjoyed showing their Valentines around CCS. (Above: The Preschool enjoys the Valentines pinata they made for Grandparents Day.)

If you know of any fellow parents who are not receiving weekly announcements, please forward this to them and encourage them to contact the front office to insure we have their correct e-mail address. Announcements may also be viewed on the new flat-screen televisions posted by the school's front office. Visit our website for the latest news and updates at www.charlestoncollegiate.org.

COMMITTEE MEETING: AUCTION
Thursday, February 18th
The Auction Committee will have a meeting this Thursday at 8a.m. in the conference trailer.

We need more volunteers for this very important fundraising event! Please contact event chair Mary Lynn Drury for more information about volunteering for the Auction, which will be held on March 13, 2010.
"HAITI HOUSES": SCHOOL-WIDE FUNDRAISER PROJECT
houseThe students' magnets and pins from the Houses for Haiti project were very well received at Saturday's "Inside Kiawah's Finest" Home Tour. Many asked that I tell the students directly that they were impressed with their caring and their creativity! Now that students have created the pins and magnets, we are looking for help to find places to sell them. If you have an idea, please call Valerie Shears at 559-5506.

The "Houses for Haiti" project was begun by two art teachers in Florida. Over $30,000 has been raised nationwide for charities by the sale of the "Haiti Houses" pins/magnets! For more information, please contact Valerie Shears or visit www.haitihouses.org.
FROM THE YEARBOOK STAFF

FROM THE COLLEGE COUNSELOR

graduationCollege News
Congratulations to the following seniors for their recent college acceptances: Laney Miller - Columbia College in Chicago; Mallori Lazich - Brevard college.

College Rep Visits
Upcoming visits from college reps are
for grades 9-12 only. Students must sign up with Mrs. Boyd or Ms. Pringle prior to the meeting in order to have permission to attend: University of Alabama - Feb. 24, 8:30am.

FAFSA Information
Please see the following link to a Boston Globe article for useful information about FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid): FAFSA information This is especially important for parents of seniors, but it will be helpful for Upper Schol parents, since everyone will have to fill this out before a child goes to college.

SAT/ACT Prep Course
A combination S.A.T. / A.C.T. prep class will be held from 9:00am - 1:00pm on Saturday, April 24th. The fee is $50. Please see Mrs. Sharpe for details and registration form.

For more information about any of the above, please contact Mrs. Boyd at eboyd@charlestoncollegiate.org or 559-5506 x229.
LOST & FOUND BIN
All students and parents should check the Lost & Found in the rear of the café weekly. The Lost & Found bin will be emptied every two weeks. If a child's name is not in uniform clothing (a silver Sharpie works well for marking dark items), these items will be washed and resold by the Parents' Association.
H1N1 FLU SYMPTOMS & VACCINE INFORMATION
sickWe continue to have confirmed cases of H1N1 Flu at the school. To help identify this flu strain's symptoms (vs. regular flu or common cold), please see the H1N1 Flu symptom chart posted to the CCS website.

DHEC Vaccine Clinics
DHEC has recommended that we strongly encourage all of our parents to call 953-0090 to schedule vaccination appointments ASAP. The vaccination is available at DHEC free clinics: the sooner our families call, the easier it will be to get an appointment, and the safer the campus will be for all of us. Please call and schedule an appointment for your child to receive a free vaccination ASAP.

School Policy
An important reminder about school policy on student illnesses: if a student is out sick, he/she is only allowed back to school after being fever/symptom-free for 24 hours without the help of medication.
Have a great week,
