Greetings!
We'd like to congratulate two outstanding CCS athletes -- one current student, one alumnus -- who have been honored in recent weeks for their talents. Allie Walker (10th grade) played on an All-Star city soccer team this fall, which went on to win the State Championship. Allie was named to the All-Tournament Team as well, and the state championship team was honored by the Charleston City Council earlier this month. Kevin Fletcher (Class of 2008) won the Joye Law Firm's "Shoot Three and Win Challenge" -- and the $1000 prize! -- at the 17th Annual Piggly Wiggly Roundball Classic on Jan. 21st. Kevin, who played Varsity Basketball while at CCS, is currently a sophomore at USC in Columbia. Congratulations to both of these Sundevil athletes!
Upper School students Sarah Crowder (10th grade), Kate Miller (12th grade), Shan Fang (12th grade), and Shareef Elkady (12th grade) prepare lunch as volunteers at the Crisis Ministries shelter in Downtown Charleston.

 Financial Aid
Financial Aid applications are available at the front desk or in the Business Office. You may complete the application online at http://sss.nais.org. This year, you must submit your tax returns and other documentation directly to SSS, not to the school. This link will provide you with a cover sheet to print and submit with these documents. See below for deadlines relating to Financial Aid.
Important Changes for Monthly Tuition Payers
After this year, monthly tuition payments will no longer run from August through May. For the 2010-2011 school year, payments will begin in July 2010 and end in April 2011 and will be due on the 5th of each month, not the 10th. This is a necessary change for the school's accounting system.
Important Dates & Deadlines
**Deadline for Early Enrollment Discount extended until Friday, January 29th!**
January 22, 2010: Deadline for early enrollment discount (up to 5% for payment in full) extended until Friday January 29th! Re-enrollment contracts will only be accepted with a tuition deposit or payment in full (see payment plan options on back of contract).
February 15, 2010: Deadline for ALL re-enrollment contracts with deposits for guaranteed placement for your child(ren) for the 2010-2011 school year. After this date, enrollment will be opened to new students. **CCS will hold a place for financial aid applicants if complete applications are received by this date.**
March 5, 2010: Financial aid award letters mailed to those who completed the process by February 15th. After this date, financial aid awards are given on a first-come, first-served basis.
March 20, 2010: Deadline for re-enrollment contracts and deposits from financial aid awardees.

| INSIDE KIAWAH'S FINEST HOME TOUR |

February 13th, 2010
On Saturday, February 13th, Kiawah Island will open its gates to one of the most exciting home tours in the area to benefit Charleston Collegiate School. The self-guided tour features seven sumptuous island residences, a Designer Boutique with over 20 local artisans, HGTV's "Designed to Sell" host Terry Haas, and a Cocktail Party at the home of Walt and Betsy Leonard.
The festivities begin at 10 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. Tickets are only $35 in advance, and $40 at registration. You may purchase tickets online on the CCS website.

FAFSA Information
Please see the following link to a Boston Globe article for useful information about FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid): FAFSA information This is especially important for parents of seniors, but it will be
helpful for Upper Schol parents, since everyone will have to fill this
out before a child goes to college.
SAT/ACT Prep Course
A combination S.A.T. / A.C.T. prep class will be held from 9:00am - 1:00pm on Monday, Feb. 15th and again on Saturday, April 24th. The fee is $50. Please see Mrs. Sharpe for details and registration form.
US Naval Academy Admissions Forum
USNA will hold an open forum this weekend on Saturday, Jan. 30th, 1-4pm in the Scarbrough Ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Savannah (Two West Bay Street, Savannah, GA, 31401). Check-in begins at 12:30pm. To register, please email your full name and email address to cgoevent@usna.edu. CCS BOOK FAIR

 February 8th-12th
The annual Scholastic Book Fair will be held the week of February 8-12 from 7:30am-3:30pm in the Library, with proceeds to benefit the library itself.
Volunteers are needed to serve 2-hour shifts during the Book Fair, as well as to help set up Feb. 5 and take down on Feb. 15th. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Jocelyn Châteauvert at 367-8910 or roselanestudios@hotmail.com. |

SPRING TENNIS

 For Grades 3-8
Any 3rd-8th grader interested in playing Spring Tennis, please complete the Registration Form and submit with $35 to Ms. Sowers no later than Tuesday, January 26. There will be a Parent Information Meeting and Tennis Clinic for players prior to the season starting in March.
Registration forms have been placed in the 3-5 grade classrooms and at the front desk. Please return forms and money to Ms. Sowers and not the front desk. If you have any questions, please contact Letitia Sowers.

LOST & FOUND BIN
|
|
All students and parents should check the Lost & Found in the rear of the café weekly. The Lost & Found bin will be emptied every two weeks. If
a child's name is not in uniform clothing (a silver Sharpie works well
for marking dark items), these items will be washed and resold by the
Parents' Association.

H1N1 FLU SYMPTOMS & VACCINE INFORMATION
|

 We continue to have confirmed cases of H1N1 Flu at the school. To help identify this flu strain's symptoms (vs. regular flu or common cold), please see the H1N1 Flu symptom chart posted to the CCS website.
DHEC Vaccine Clinics
DHEC has recommended that we strongly encourage all of our parents to call 953-0090 to schedule vaccination appointments ASAP. The vaccination is available at DHEC free clinics: the sooner our families call, the easier it will be to get an appointment, and the safer the campus will be for all of us. Please call and schedule an appointment for your child to receive a free vaccination ASAP.
School Policy
An important reminder about school policy on student illnesses: if a
student is out sick, he/she is only allowed back to school after being
fever/symptom-free for 24 hours without the help of medication.
