Our Fall Carnival went very well on Friday. We hope all of you who attended had a great time with your children. Thank you so much to all of our parent and grandparent volunteers who helped make this event such a success. Special thanks to event chairs Kelly Albers and Tiffany Frank for doing such a fantastic job! They look forward to chairing this event again next year and will be happy to have a great group of volunteers to make next year a success as well.

H1N1 FLU VACCINE INFORMATION FROM DHEC
important2DHEC has recommended that we strongly encourage all of our parents to call 953-0090 to schedule vaccination appointments ASAP. The vaccination is available at DHEC free clinics: the sooner our families call, the easier it will be to get an appointment, and the safer the campus will be for all of us. Please call and schedule an appointment for your child to receive a free vaccination ASAP.

We have also posted some important information regarding H1N1 "Swine Flu" and South Carolina schools from DHEC (SC's Dept. of Health and Environmental Control) to the Important Links for Parents page on our website. Additional information has been mailed to you from CCS and DHEC regarding this health situation that is affecting our community.

An important reminder about school policy on student illnesses: if a student is out sick, he/she is only allowed back to school after being fever/symptom-free for 24 hours without the help of medication.
CCS ANNUAL FUND
annual fund We're on the Road to 100%, and we'll only reach our destination if EVERYONE joins our road trip. Please remember to give -- by check, credit card, monthly bank draft, or online by clicking here. Your gift will once again make Charleston Collegiate the ONLY local school with 100% annual fund participation.
LOST & FOUND
All students and parents should check the Lost & Found in the rear of the café weekly. The Lost & Found bin will be emptied every two weeks. If a child's name is not in uniform clothing (a silver Sharpie works well for marking dark items), these items will be washed and resold by the Parents' Association.
UPPER SCHOOL WINTERIM CATALOG
Now Available Online
winterimThe Upper School Winterim 2009-10 catalog is now available! We are very excited by the variety of course offerings this year, particularly the opportunity for the ninth grade which has been made possible by a generous grant to the school (described on p. 3 of the catalog). While all ninth graders will be participating in this course, we hope that parents of students in grades 10-12 will read the catalog and talk with their children about which option is best for them. One new option this year is a "Community Service Internship" where students can plan their own volunteer work for a week (p. 7). Please note that the registration deadline is November 18, at which point a down payment of 50% is also due.
CCS WRITING GALLERY
writing Online Writing Project (Ongoing)
In CCS's online gallery, the Charleston Collegiate Collection, we are collecting various types of writings and artwork (even audio and video) from all students, teachers, alumni, parents, and friends of CCS. On October 20 the National Gallery of Writing and our local gallery, opened to the world, and you can still be a part of it! We invite you to pick a piece of writing that matters to you and contribute it to The Charleston Collegiate Collection Gallery. Each person may only make one submission per gallery. Writers keep the copyrights of all work submitted.

Established by NCTE, the National Gallery of Writing, local writing galleries like ours, and the National Day of Writing highlight the remarkable variety of writing in which we engage today, provide a collection for research on whether writing today has risen to new highs or sunk to new lows, and help NCTE help others to write better.

Happy Writing!!! Please contact Erica Woodward at ewoodward@charlestoncollegiate.org if you have any questions.
