FROM THE SEARCH COMMITTEE
Dear CCS Parents,

As some of you may already know, Dr. Shirley has indicated his plan to retire from the position of Head of School at the end of the 2010-2011 school year. We are writing to let you know that we have begun the process by which we will find and recruit his successor.

Specifically, the Board of Trustees has vested a small Search Committee with the responsibility of guiding and managing this long process. If all goes according to plan, candidate interviews will begin early in the Fall of 2010, leading to the finalists visiting CCS later in the Fall. A final choice will be made by late 2010.

We want you to be a part of the search from its onset, and throughout the process we will be seeking your input and advice. As one means of hearing from you, as well as from other stakeholders, an Advisory Committee will soon be formed which will be comprised of approximately twenty faculty, parents, and other constituents. This group will be charged with tasks such as advertising for candidates and processing the incoming inquiries and resumes, and will interview each of the candidates selected to visit CCS. The Advisory Committee will work closely with the Search Committee, and, through them, with the Board of Trustees.

We plan to communicate with you both directly and through the Parents Association. We will be using email, meetings, and, hopefully, a web-based survey tool to hear your thoughts on the search and to keep you informed of our progress.

We recognize the tremendous commitment that you have made to your children's education and appreciate that you have chosen CCS to play a major role in this process. As we conduct this search, our goal is to make the transition as seamless as possible, and in the end to maintain the essential mission and character of the school. We are confident that we can recruit a new Head of School with the character and skills necessary to provide your children with the best possible opportunities for their education and overall development.

Sincerely,

CCS Search Committee
