H1N1 Flu Virus Update
Dear CCS Parents,
As stated in the letter that went
out last week, we are doing everything we can to prevent the spread of the
Influenza virus at Charleston Collegiate. As you might know, over the past
week, cases of the H1N1 flu have been reported at many of the local schools, and
we felt it important to let you know that we have now had our first two
confirmed cases of the virus here at CCS.
We will continue to be vigilant and
consistent with DHEC guidelines to prevent the spread of infection
by:
- Promoting
frequent hand washing with soap and warm water.
- Frequent use of
alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
-
Promoting proper
technique of covering coughs and sneezes.
- Kleenex tissues
in the classrooms.
-
Cleaning heavy
traffic surfaces (desk tops, door knobs, keyboards) with Clorox
wipes.
We will also ask that you continue
to work with us by keeping your child at home with any flu-like
symptoms:
- Fever
(100˚F)
-
Cough
-
Sore
throat
- Runny or stuffy
nose
- Body
aches
- Fatigue
DHEC recommends
siblings of students with confirmed cases continue to attend school provided
they are showing no symptoms.
Charleston Collegiate is dependent
upon your timely action and communication with your health care provider to ensure the health of your children. Please continue to
communicate explanations for student absences so we can provide accurate data to
DHEC.
For more information on the H1N1
virus, visit www.scdhec.gov or the Important Links for Parents page on the CCS website.
Thanks you for your cooperation, and
please rest assured that we are doing everything in our power to keep your
children safe.
