Lenten Study

It is traditional for congregations to offer additional worship and study opportunities during Lent.  At St. Paul's this year we will offer an opportunity to pray and an opportunity to study.

We will be using the book A Time to Turn by Christopher Webber.  The book is a series of pieces by Anglicans throughout history on a variety of topics.  Each week we will look at one of the pieces, explore what it means and what God is saying to us.  You don't need to purchase the book to participate - but there is much more in the book than we will cover in class.

We will offer the class three time each week - you can come to any of them.

  •  Sunday Morning from 9:15 - 9:45 in the Parish Hall on February 26, March 4, 11, 18 & 25
  •  Wednesday evening from 6:15 - 6:45 in the library on February 29, March 7, 14, 21 & 28
  •  Thursday afternoon from 1:00-1:30 in the library, bring a bag lunch is you like, on March 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29

A brief reflection will also be posted on the St. Paul's Facebook page each week.

We are also offering two resources for personal use:

  •  From Ashes to Hope is a booklet of reflections and prayers for adults.
  •  Pastor Vicki has written a booklet of reflections and prayers for families to use together.

Both of these pamphlets can be found on the poster in the parish hall.

Lent Craft and Chat

If you are looking for a Lenten project, but theological reflection isn't your cup of tea, try the Craft and Chat group.  Bring your own stitching/knitting/crafting project or we will teach you an easy project to benefit children in the Buffalo community.  Come and join us.  Thursdays from 6:30 - 8 p.m. in the library.  We will meet during Lent and then decide what we want to do.  The first one will be March 1.

Vestry Members: Save the Date!
  • Eastern Erie Vestry Dinner with Bishop Franklin - Sunday February 26 - 5 p.m. at Trinity, Lancaster
Newcomers' Dinner - March 2

The Newcomer's Dinner will be held Friday March 2nd at 6PM.  This is a traditional event here at St. Paul's. We plan a fun social evening to officially welcome those who have started attending St. Paul's since the last newcomer's dinner.  Everyone is invited and we usually get a good turnout.  If you are a newcomer, come as our guest!  Everyone else, please bring a dish to pass!!  There is a sign up poster in the Parish Hall so we can be sure to put up enough tables and chairs and to make sure we get a good balance of wonderful food!

Why Stop at One Turkey Dinner a Year?
yarn

The Youth Group will hold a Turkey Dinner Fundraiser on Sunday, March 11, from 5-6:30 p.m.  Spend time with family and friends while eating delectable dishes like turkey, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce.

The cost is $10 per dinner, payable at the door, and proceeds benefit the Youth Group's planned mission trip to Elyria, OH this summer.

Come, tell a friend, and bring two with you!

20s/30s Outing: Brazilian Steakhouse - March 10

The 20s & 30s group is going on a dinner outing to Copacabana Brazilian Steakhouse in Niagara Falls, Ontario, on Saturday, March 10.  The cost will be approximately $45, plus drinks and tip.  Our reservation is for 6pm, but we will coordinate to leave from church ahead of time and carpool.  Questions?  Talk to Aaron & Kate Macke.

St. Paul's on Facebook
Facebook clip artAfter some discussion, the parish office has decided that a Facebook "page"  better suits our purposes than our former group, so we have created one.  Just go HERE, and click "like", and you're all set!  Anything we post will begin showing up in your news feed.
