Confirmation - Classes Begin THIS SATURDAY!
The Bishop is coming on Sunday May 6. That means that it is time to start talking about confirmation.

If you are a young person who will turn 15 this academic year and would like to be confirmed or if you are an adult who has not been confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church and would like to be - the Bishop's visit is the opportunity for that.

Confirmation preparation this year will have two parts.
  • Part 1 - two Saturday morning sessions10 a.m. to Noon on January 28 and February 25
  • Part 2 - five Sunday morning sessions
    9:15 - 9:45 on March 25, April 1, April 15, April 22 and April 29
Both parts are required. The confirmation preparation program covers the following material:
  • The Holy Scripture of the Old and New Testaments
  • The history of the Anglican Church and the Episcopal Church in the United
    States
  • The structure and polity of the Episcopal Church in the United States
  • The Catechism of the Episcopal Church as found in the Book of Common Prayer
  • The contents of the Book of Common Prayer in general
  • The structure and content of the Holy Eucharist
  • The Baptismal Covenant
  • The Nicene Creed
  • Personal faith, call and ministry
If you have any questions see Pastor Vicki.
Diocesan 20s & 30s Event: THIS SATURDAY!!

Join the Diocesan 20s & 30s for a fun afternoon at the D Center! You'll have the opportunity to drink beer (non-alcoholic beverages also available), eat snacks, chat with the Bishop, and give us some opinions about life, the church, and your life in (and out of) the church. You might even win a fabulously small prize!

This event will be held on Saturday, January 28, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Diocesan Ministry Center (1064 Brighton Rd., Tonawanda).

This event is free to anyone in their 20s or 30s who would like to attend and is willing to share some opinions and thoughts. Pre-registration is not necessary.  Child care will be available on-site.  Please bring appropriate ID if you intend to drink.

Annual Meeting - THIS SUNDAY!!

The Annual Parish Meeting will be Sunday January 29.  We will call to order at 9:00.  There are several orders of business before the annual meeting:

  1. The election of wardens and vestry members.  The slate of nominees is listed below.
  2. Award the "Pauly" awards.  We started these two years ago - they honor some people at St. Paul's who do often unacknowledged things.
  3. Receive an update on the status of our Capital Campaign.
  4. Receive the reports of the vestry on the budget for 2012 and the finances of 2011 as well as the reports of the various groups and ministries of the parish.

At this time, the office now has all the needed Annual Reports in hand.  Thank you to everyone who submitted!  :-)

Hearts and Hands
Hearts and Hands, one of our outreach ministries, will be at Clarence Winterfest this weekend!  Stop by the booth to say hello and learn more about how they are helping our elderly members remain independent in the community.  Hearts and Hands has several training opportunities coming up and is always looking for more volunteers as well as more people who need service.

Clarence Winterfest will take place this coming Sunday (January 29), from noon to 5 p.m., at Clarence Town Park, on Main St., and has a full schedule of family fun activities - with or without snow!
From the Diocese: A Movie & Conversation

What does the popular 2011 movie "The Help" tell about us about recognizing God's grace to create a more inclusive world? "The Help" will be used as the basis for an exploration of diversity and how one might hold on to their sense of self while being open to others who are different from themselves.

Join us for the movie, snacks, conversation and an opportunity to learn from each other and our diverse perspectives.

Session 1: Wednesday, February 8 from 6 - 9:30 pm

Session 2: Wednesday, February 15 from 6 - 9:30 pm

The movie, to be shown in two parts, will be screened in the upper meeting hall of the Diocesan Center located at 1064 Brighton Road, Tonawanda, NY.

Admission is free, but seating is limited. Pre-registration is required for admission.
