Venture Crew Fundraiser - THIS SATURDAY!!
|
The Venture Crew that St. Paul's sponsors is trying to raise money for their summer camping trips. Their newest fundraiser is one that you might want to take advantage of. The crew members and their adult leaders are offering to come to your home and take down your Christmas decorations on Saturday January 7. For the sum of $30 they will remove all of your outdoor decorations and bring them to you for putting away. If you want them to box them up for you they might be willing to do that too. If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity contact the Venture Crew leader - Doug Lenz- at dhlkkl@comcentric.net

Parish Feedback Day - THIS SUNDAY!!
|
Please join us after the 10:00 service on Sunday, January 8, for an
opportunity to give us your opinions. How do you feel about the work
St. Paul's is doing? What should we stop doing? What would you like us to start doing? What should we absolutely continue doing? We want to know!

Youth Group Change - THIS SUNDAY!!
|
We are going to help Christ Church, Albion raise some money to support their community dinner. Christ Church is where we did our mission trip this past July-this small congregation serves over 200 people every Friday at their community dinner.
We will be putting on a reception AFTER a fundraising concert by Bishop Franklin. We will leave St. Paul's at 2:00 (NOTE THIS IS A CHANGE FROM LAST WEEK!)-prepare for the reception at 3:00, and serve the reception after the concert. Youth will be brought to their homes after we return. Adults who want to come and help are welcome.

Church School Advent Project - FINAL WEEK!!
|
The Lancaster Food Pantry needs help!!!!! In our own community we have more hungry people than we have food. This year we are going to reach out to those in our own area. Church school children and any others who wish to participate will collect food and pennies. We hope to end up with a mile of pennies or other monies which we'll convert to pennies and food which is in short supply. Each week everyone will bring pennies or other monies and put them in a special container to be located in the parish hall. Each Sunday will be designated for a particular food. On Epiphany Sunday, we'll create our mile of pennies in the church, and, hopefully, we'll have a mile or even more. Let's do it!!!!
JANUARY 8 PERSONAL CARE SUNDAY (toothpaste, shampoo, etc.) + PENNIES

January Pulpit Swap - January 15
|
On Sunday, January 15, Pastor Vicki will engage in a pulpit swap with the Rev. Dan Pinti. Pastor Vicki will celebrate and preach that morning at St. Aidan's, Alden, and Father Dan will celebrate and preach here at St. Paul's.
For those of you who do not know Father Dan, he and his family were long-time members of St. Paul's before he was ordained, and we sponsored him in that process. In July 2011, he was ordained a priest, and immediately accepted a call to St. Aidan's. We are thrilled to invite him back, and look forward to what he has to share with us.

Annual Meeting - January 29
|
The Annual Parish Meeting will be Sunday January 29. We will call to order at 9:00. There are several orders of business before the annual meeting:
- The election of wardens and vestry members. Watch the parish bulletin for the names and other information on the candidates.
- Award the "Pauly" awards. We started these two years ago - they honor some people at St. Paul's who do often unacknowledged things.
- Receive an update on the status of our Capital Campaign.
- Receive the reports of the vestry on the budget for 2012 and the finances of 2011 as well as the reports of the various groups and ministries of the parish.
All parish committee/ministry heads need to make sure that their reports are in to Liz in the office by Sunday, January 15. (As of this writing, I have not received ANY reports yet!)

Pork Roast Dinner/Feast of Lights - January 22
| Our annual Pork Roast Dinner potluck will take place at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 22. Sign-up on the poster in the Parish Hall to let us know you are coming, and to let us know what side dish/salad/dessert you will bring.
The Feast of Lights will follow at 6:30 p.m. The Feast of Lights is a service of Epiphany - of the coming of light into the world and the spread of that light. It tells the story of the coming of Christ and the spread of the light through the lighting of candles and readings and hymns. The church starts in darkness and in the darkness one light comes in - the light of Christ - from that light two candles are lit for Mary and Joseph and so on until everyone in the church is holding a light. It is traditionally a service conducted by children and youth. So all children and youth ages 8 and up are invited to participate. Practice will be Sunday January 15 at 11 a.m. |

St. Paul's on Facebook
| After some discussion, the parish office has decided that a Facebook "page" better suits our purposes than our former group, so we have created one. Just go HERE, and click "like", and you're all set! Anything we post will begin showing up in your news feed.
