This Week at St. Paul's
Monday morning Bible Study will resume this coming Monday (September 12) at 10:15 a.m. in the Library.  We will be reading and discussing the Book of Acts this fall.

The Bible Study meets on Monday mornings throughout the year (excluding holidays as announced), at 10:15 a.m. in the parish library.  All are invited to attend.  Bring your Bible and your questions!
Sunday, September 11

September 11 marks the beginning of the fall program year.

We will be blessing backpacks and students and teachers as the new school year begins and beginning our own new Church School Year.

We will bless backpacks in the front lawn - parish hall if it rains - at 9:45 a.m.  We will then send the students off to Sunday School and proceed into church.  After the 10 a.m. service we will have Hot Dog Sunday - stay and have a hot dog and a cookie and catch up with people that you have missed this summer.   The youth group fall kick off meeting will follow coffee hour.

Please bring a plate of finger desserts (cookies, brownies, etc.) if you are able, for Hot Dog Sunday.

Also, in honor of the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, we will ring the church bells 5 times at each of the following times: 8:46 a.m., 9:02 a.m., 9:37 a.m., and 10:03 a.m., to remember the planes that went into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Shanksville, PA.

Youth Group Kickoff - THIS SUNDAY!!

The youth group kick-off celebration will be Sunday September 11.  We are going to Darien Lake for the last taste of summer.  We will join the rest of St. Paul's for hot dog Sunday and then head off to Darien Lake - we will return to St. Paul's at 6 p.m. - because it's a school night.  The cost is $15.

The regular youth group meetings begin on September 25 - meetings begin at 11:30 and end at 1:30 and include lunch.

Youth Group is for all youth grades 7 - 12.

Small Plates Begins Again - September 18

Small Plates adult education is back beginning September 18.  The class will take place in the parish hall from 9:15 to 9:45 on September 18, 25, October 2, and 9.  The topic this time is "The Beginnings of Anglicanism".

Join St. Martha's!
If you are a woman with some free time on the third Wednesday of each month, a desire to help others, and you would like to make some new friends, please consider joining St. Martha's Guild.  We meet every third Wednesday at 10 am at the Erie County Home in Alden for Bingo, and then later back at the church at 12 noon for lunch.  Our first meeting of the new program year will be Wednesday, September 21.  All women of the parish are welcomed and encouraged to join us.  If you come for lunch, please bring a sandwich to share.  Questions?  See Marje Hagberg or Donna Leney.
UB Bulls Football Outing - September 24
UB Bulls logo
Ron Stefanski has reserved 16 tickets in section 109, at the extremely discounted rate of $12 each. The Bulls are kicking off against UConn at 6 p.m., and we will be tailgating in the "Jacobs A" lot, starting at 4 p.m.  Chili and bread/butter will be provided.  Please bring an item (snack, veggie tray, salad) to pass, your own refreshments, chairs, "True Blue" game day apparel.  Sign up at the church.  Questions?  See Ron.
Ministry Fair - September 25
It's time for the Ministry Fair - Sept 25 following the 10 o'clock service.  The Fair is a time to celebrate what we are doing at St. Paul's and for parishioners to become better acquainted with the various ministries which are available to you for stewardship opportunities. There will be coffee, food and fellowship - it doesn't get much better than that.  Our goal is to have every group/ministry at St Paul's to participate.  Please see Donna Leney for more detailed information. All are welcome!!
A New Face

The Rev. Deacon Claudia Koczka is joining St. Paul's.  Claudia is a transitional deacon.  She is a graduate of General Theological Seminary in New York and is preparing for ordination to the priesthood.  Claudia will be with us three Sundays a month this fall and will be preaching occasionally and working on a few projects.  Claudia is currently in the process of discernment and job searching so we may have some search committees visiting her.  Please introduce yourself to Claudia and please wear your name tags to help her get to know you.

St. Paul's on Facebook
Facebook clip artAfter some discussion, the parish office has decided that a Facebook "page"  better suits our purposes than our former group, so we have created one.  Just go HERE, and click "like", and you're all set!  Anything we post will begin showing up in your news feed.
Can you knit or crochet?

yarnHelp us turn all of the yarn that's been donated into blanket squares for Roswell and and full-size blankets for Project Linus.  Pick up an instruction sheet and a kit from the church.  Instruction sheets are on the poster in the kitchen hallway, and kits are available from Barb Dascomb.
