Sunday, September 11
|
September 11 marks the beginning of the fall program year.
We will be blessing backpacks and students and teachers as the new school year begins and beginning our own new Church School Year.
We will bless backpacks in the front lawn - parish hall if it rains - at 9:45 a.m. We will then send the students off to Sunday School and proceed into church. After the 10 a.m. service we will have Hot Dog Sunday - stay and have a hot dog and a cookie and catch up with people that you have missed this summer. The youth group fall kick off meeting will follow coffee hour.
Please bring a plate of finger desserts (cookies, brownies, etc.) if you are able, for Hot Dog Sunday.
Also, in honor of the 10th anniversary of the September 11th attacks, we will ring the church bells 5 times at each of the following times: 8:46 a.m., 9:02 a.m., 9:37 a.m., and 10:03 a.m., to remember the planes that went into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Shanksville, PA.

We will join the rest of St. Paul's for hot dog Sunday and then head off to Darien Lake - we will return to St. Paul's at 6 p.m. - because it's a school night. The cost is $15.
The regular youth group meetings begin on September 25 - meetings begin at 11:30 and end at 1:30 and include lunch.
Youth Group is for all youth grades 7 - 12.

A New Face
|
The Rev. Deacon Claudia Koczka is joining St. Paul's. Claudia is a transitional deacon. She is a graduate of General Theological Seminary in New York and is preparing for ordination to the priesthood. Claudia will be with us three Sundays a month this fall and will be preaching occasionally and working on a few projects. Claudia is currently in the process of discernment and job searching so we may have some search committees visiting her. Please introduce yourself to Claudia and please wear your name tags to help her get to know you.

St. Paul's on Facebook
| After some discussion, the parish office has decided that a Facebook "page" better suits our purposes than our former group, so we have created one. Just go HERE, and click "like", and you're all set! Anything we post will begin showing up in your news feed.

Tutoring @ Harris Hill Elementary
| As some of you know, Pastor Vicki has been tutoring at Harris Hill this school year and last. Harris Hill is seeing an increased need for tutors - they especially need people who would be willing read one on one with kindergarteners, first and second graders who are learning to read. There is also a need for people willing to work with children on math. What is necessary is a free hour a week between 8:30 and 2:30 and a willingness to help. We are beginning to recruit tutors for the 2011-2012 academic year. We will have a meeting in August to get ready for September. If you are interested let Pastor Vicki know. |

Can you knit or crochet?
|
Help us turn all of the yarn that's been donated into blanket squares for Roswell and and full-size blankets for Project Linus. Pick up an instruction sheet and a kit from the church. Instruction sheets are on the poster in the kitchen hallway, and kits are available from Barb Dascomb.
