This Week at St. Paul's
This Week's Hymns
Hymn L686 - Was chosen by Carri Ludwig, because it was one of the hymns at her son's baptism, and by Christine Symons, because it reminds her of choir members who have passed.

Hymn L213 - Was chosen by Marje Hagberg, because she frequently sang it in Swedish in Sunday School.

Hymn L69 - Was chosen by Linda Jackson, because it was her mother's favorite. "When I feel sad, I know that she and Jesus are in the garden."
From the Diocese This Week...
The following article appeared in the weekly Diocesan "Postings" email.  Please note that this is the location where our Youth Group just did their Mission Trip earlier this month.  If you would like to donate to this program, you can place your donation in the Sunday collection, with a note for "Discretionary Fund".

Take this opportunity to become part of the Web of Grace

The Community Kitchen sponsored by Christ Church in Albion has experienced an explosion in attendance. Before we reorganized last summer, we had been serving approximately 20 meals weekly. Now, the Community Kitchen is serving between 200-250 meals every Friday evening!

Our grants from Foodlink for the past year were structured to feed just 20 people per week. Faith Smith, the director of the Community Kitchen, has miraculously made those grants stretch until recently. Now the Community Kitchen is totally without funding until at least the middle of August, when the new Foodlink grants will take effect.

In addition to food and supplies, we are also in need of kitchen items such as large pots and pans, large mixing/serving bowls, commercial grade mixers, and a large tea kettle.

We would appreciate all donations to help us provide healthy meals to our needy and/or lonely neighbors. Checks can be made payable to "Christ Church Community Kitchen and mailed to: Christ Episcopal Church Community Kitchen, 26 S. Main St., Albion, NY 14411.

This is the ministry mentioned by Bishop Franklin in his video blog last week. See it at:

Deanery Picnic - August 7

The Eastern Erie Deanery Picnic will take place on Sunday, August 7, at noon at Stiglmeier Park in Cheektowaga.  This event is a potluck, so please bring a dish to pass.  There is no need to sign up ahead of time.  Just bring yourselves, your dish, and your sense of fun.  We hope to see you there!

Note: If you need directions from the church to the park, there are now flyers on the bulletin board in the "Diocese/Deanery" section.  Please take one!

Duffers Outing - August 20
duffer clip art We will hold a Duffers Outing on Saturday, August 20.  We will start our morning at 8:30 a.m.with breakfast at Helen's Kitchen in Transitown Plaza  (Costs are your own for breakfast.)

At 10 a.m, join us at Harris Hill Golf Center (Genesee St., just west of Harris Hill Rd.), for 9 holes of golf on a par 3 course.  Cost to play is $11 ($10 for those aged 58+).  Pull cart rental and club rental are both available for an additional fee.

Sign up for breakfast, golf, or both on the poster in the parish hall.  We hope you'll join us!
St. Paul's on Facebook
Facebook clip artAfter some discussion, the parish office has decided that a Facebook "page"  better suits our purposes than our current group, so we have created one.  Just go HERE, and click "like", and you're all set!  Anything we post will begin showing up in your news feed.

Please be advised that the current group will be deleted on August 1.
Tutoring @ Harris Hill Elementary
tutoring clip art

As some of you know, Pastor Vicki has been tutoring at Harris Hill this school year and last.  Harris Hill is seeing an increased need for tutors - they especially need people who would be willing read one on one with kindergarteners, first and second graders who are learning to read.    There is also a need for people willing to work with children on math.

What is necessary is a free hour a week between 8:30 and 2:30 and a willingness to help.

We are beginning to recruit tutors for the 2011-2012 academic year.  We will have a meeting in August to get ready for September.

If you are interested let Pastor Vicki know.

Can you knit or crochet?

yarnHelp us turn all of the yarn that's been donated into blanket squares for Roswell and and full-size blankets for Project Linus.  Pick up an instruction sheet and a kit from the church.  Instruction sheets are on the poster in the kitchen hallway, and kits are available from Barb Dascomb.
