Mission Trip Change

As you all probably know, our youth were planning a Mission Trip for a week to West Virginia. At the last minute several of our adult chaperones ended up needing to be at work during part of the week - so we are unable to go to West Virginia. So the Mission Trip will be Sunday and Monday July 3 & 4 at Christ Church, Albion. We will be helping them renovate some of the space they use for their community dinners. Pastor Vicki is one of the adults going - so Tom Mitchell will be the priest at St. Paul's on July 3. Welcome him back.

St. Paul's Annual Baseball Outing
Ron Stefanski has reserved 20 tickets for the Buffalo Bisons game (vs. Pawtucket) on Sunday, July 24, at 1:05 p.m. The reserved seating group rate is $9.00 per ticket. An optional hot dog and soda voucher can be purchased for an additional $5.25. This game is "Sign Day" with color your own pennant giveaway (first 3000 fans), and pre-game sign parade for fans to show off their pennants and signs. After the game, kids can run the bases, just like their favorite Bisons players. Wear your baseball fan gear to Church and go directly to the game after the 10:00 service! Ron is accepting reservations and payment for this event up to the end of services on Sunday, July 10. Tickets will be picked up that week, and distributed at church on Sunday, July 17.

Tutoring @ Harris Hill Elementary
As some of you know, I have been tutoring at Harris Hill this school year and last. Harris Hill is seeing an increased need for tutors - they especially need people who would be willing read one on one with kindergarteners, first and second graders who are learning to read. There is also a need for people willing to work with children on math. What is necessary is a free hour a week between 8:30 and 2:30 and a willingness to help. We are beginning to recruit tutors for the 2011-2012 academic year. We will have a meeting in August to get ready for September. If you are interested let Pastor Vicki know.

Habitat for Humanity

As you may have heard, the Clarence community is sponsoring a Habitat for Humanity house in Buffalo. So far Clarence has raised $70,000 towards the house - with over $1200 of that coming from St. Paul's. The next step is actually building the house. Construction has been delayed because the rainy spring has prevented the preparation of the foundation and the framing of the house - but volunteers will be needed in June, July, August and September. Normally work is done on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays during the day.
The best way to sign up to work is to go to the Habitat Web-site at -
www.habitatbuffalo.org and click on the volunteer tab at the top of the page. You can see when work is being done and when volunteers are needed. All skill levels can be accommodated - you don't have to be experienced to be helpful. There is also an on-line safety video they would like you to watch. If you are interested in putting together a St. Paul's work crew let Pastor Vicki know.

Can you knit or crochet?
|
Help us turn all of the yarn that's been donated into blanket squares for Roswell and and full-size blankets for Project Linus. Pick up an instruction sheet and a kit from the church. Instruction sheets are on the poster in the kitchen hallway, and kits are available from Barb Dascomb.
