This Week at St. Paul's
Coffee Hour Contest - THIS SUNDAY!!
We will hold another Coffee Hour contest, to benefit Habitat for Humanity, on Sunday, May 1 after the 10:00 service.  The theme is decorated Easter eggs.  They don't have to be real or edible, but they do have to be pretty!
Consecration Weekend - IS HERE!!
Friday, April 29 - Sunday, May 1 is Consecration weekend, and there are several events going on that you should be aware of.

The ordination & consecration of R. William Franklin as the 11th Bishop of Western New York, will take place on Saturday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at the Center for the Arts on UB's North Campus.  Tickets have been distributed.  If you did not request a ticket, you may call the office to be placed on the waiting list for tickets.

The next morning (Sunday, May 1), Bishop Franklin will be visiting us right here at St. Paul's for both of our regular Sunday morning services.

That same afternoon, all are invited to attend the new bishop's installation at the Cathedral downtown, at 4 p.m.  There is no need to pre-register for this event.

The office will be closed on Monday, May 2.

ECW Theme Basket/Chinese Auction - May 7

THEME BASKET/CHINESE AUCTION

Saturday, May 7

12 noon to 3:00 p.m.

Sponsored by Episcopal Church Women

We are in need of baskets to be donated for this fundraising event.  The approximate value should be $25.00.  They will need to be dropped off at church no later than Friday, May 6th by noon.  There is a sign-up sheet on the ECW bulletin board for anyone kind enough to make up a basket.  We are also looking for gift certificates.  If you have a favourite restaurant, store, or business that may be willing to donate a gift certificate or item, we have a Church letter to give to the business.  Any amount is appreciated.  Questions??  See Ann Cuyler (632-0423) or Carol Selin (741-2740).

We will also need workers on that Saturday.  Again, if you can help (and have fun) for a few hours that day, there is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board.

Community Carnival - May 14

On Saturday May 14 we will hold a Community Carnival at St. Paul's - the proceeds of the Carnival will benefit the earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan.

There will be cotton candy, popcorn and hot dogs, a bounce house and games galore.  The carnival will run from 1 - 3 p.m.

There is a sign up sheet in the parish hall for those who are able to help.  Also on the poster are some flyers about the Carnival - please take a few and post them in your office or a store you frequent.

Elder Forum - May 19
Please join us for the last Elder Forum to be held May 19 at 7pm in St. Paul's library. The topic will be "Elder Placement: When to decide an eldercare facility is needed."   The forums have been very informative and make facing our elder years a bit more comfortable.  Bring questions, share stories.
We Need Your Input!

In planning for a vestry planning day in May, we are asking for congregational input.  Please stop in the parish hall during coffee hour and answer the following questions that you will find posted on the wall:

  • What are 3 things that are going well at St. Paul's?
  • What are 3 things that would improve the work of St. Paul's?

Your input is important to us - thanks for your help!

Can you knit or crochet?

yarnHelp us turn all of the yarn that's been donated into blanket squares for Roswell and and full-size blankets for Project Linus.  Pick up an instruction sheet and a kit from the church.  Instruction sheets are on the poster in the kitchen hallway, and kits are available from Barb Dascomb.
Submissions for "This Week"
