This Week at St. Paul's
There will be an Episcopal Church Women meeting this coming Monday, at 7:00 p.m., at the church.  Please join us!
Day of Change - THIS SUNDAY!!
The clocks are turning back an hour this Sunday, so don't forget to change your clock before you go to be on Saturday night.  Also, this Sunday is a Day of Change, so remember to bring your spare change to church.  The collection will benefit the Sunday School's Advent Heifer Project appeal.
Bishop Candidate Walkabouts - THIS WEEKEND!!

The diocese has arranged for four walkabouts to take place next weekend.  Each of these is an opportunity for us all to meet with the candidates for bishop, to ask them questions, and see where the Spirit is leading us.  Here are the 2 closest to St. Paul's:

  • Saturday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. - Christ Church, 7145 Fieldcrest Dr., Lockport
  • Sunday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m. - Trinity Church, 371 Delaware Ave., Buffalo

There are also walkabouts that weekend in LeRoy and Jamestown.  Information about those can be obtained on the diocesan website www.episcopalwny.org, or by calling the parish office (632-8221).

Elder Seminar - November 11

Join us for the next installment of our 2010-2011 series of Elder Seminars on Thursday, November 11 at 7 p.m.  This session is entitled "Decisions and Responses: When do you decide an elder needs help?  How do they respond to help?"  These seminars are free and open to the public, so please invite anyone who you think might be helped by the discussion.

Emergency Drill & Evacuation Plan - November 14

At the request of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, the Harris Hill Volunteer Fire Department visited St. Paul's on October 12th to discuss fire safety and have a walk through of our facilities.  On Sunday November 14th, weather permitting, we will be having an building evacuation drill for our Sunday School teachers and students sometime during their Sunday School class.   We encourage you to stay after the 10:00 am service for coffee hour when we will talk about the results of the walk-through, present our evacuation guidelines and discuss how the drill went.

Brent School Course - Starting Next Week!

Pastor Vicki is teaching a Brent School class on Generations in America at St. Paul's on Wednesday November 10 and 17.  The class will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m.  The Brent School is a ministry of the Diocese of Western New York.  The class is on the 5 generations currently in American society, the experiences that shaped them and what generational theory can tell the church about reaching out to them.  The cost of the class is $10.  For more information or to register http://www.episcopalwny.org/ministries/christian-formation/brent-school
Movie Day/Potluck: "Toy Story 3" - November 21
Toy Story 3 graphic

On Sunday, November 21, at 2:30 p.m., we will be having a Movie Day and Potluck.  We will be showing "Toy Story 3", followed by a potluck dinner with meatloaf and mashed potatoes provided.  Please sign up on the poster in the parish hall by Thursday, November 18, and bring a dish to share.

Pictures! - November 21

Also on November 21, we will be having some pictures of the church and its people taken for the website by a professional photographer.  Please come and be prepared to stay a little bit after the services and be a part of some group photos.

Bishop's Visit - December 5
The Bishop will be visiting us on Sunday, December 5.  We will be providing lunch for the Bishop and Carol after the 10 a.m. service.  Sandwich makings and cake will be provided, but please sign up to bring a salad or other side dish.  There is a poster in the parish hall.  Also, since this is the Bishop and Carol's last visit with us, we are collecting funds to present them with a check for the Our Little Roses orphanage in Honduras.  Please mark your check "Bishop Gift."
Can You Help?

We are looking for people to be part of planning teams for a couple of events that will be happening in the spring. Each team is looking for 3 or 4 people to work with Pastor Vicki on the events.  They are:  The Episcopal Community Services campaign in March; the Easter Egg Hunt in April; The Carnival in May and a Vacation Bible School this summer.  The sign up sheet is in the parish hall.
